The jewel of north Donegal. 20 min drive from our house. Great parking, walks (10 am bus drops you for 8 km walk back to castle Saturday and Sunday mornings. Coffee and restaurant at castle and near car park. Tour of castle. Lakeside views and shorter walks. Gets very crowded in summer and at weekends so recommend early visit.

Take the scenic drive around Horn Head, particularly in the evening/sunset. Great new picnic tables with barbecue spots. Amazing views, and walk out to Horn Head itself.
