The Cathedral in Roskilde might be the most beautiful church in Denmark. It's definitely one of the biggest and hosts graves of the Danish royal family.
If you visit the cathedral for a service the entrance is free.

This area is one of the newest and most innovative areas in town. Here you find a great rock museum, street food, micro brewery, great skating area and much more. It's a great alternative place, with lots of young creative people.

Café Freunde is located behind the little shopping center at Trekroner station.
The café gets its groceries from their own farm nearby, which is driven in cooperation with a school and in a sustainable way.
It's the perfect place for brunch nearby. They also offer lunch to go with great offers if you come more often.
I recommend that you make a reservation in the weekends.

This year, 2022, finally the new renovated and greater public indoors svømning pool opened. It has great facilities for swimming, fun and recreation.
It's my favourite place in town, especially on a rainy day.
Remember to bring an additional towel to sit on in the sauna.

Just on the other side of the cross road you find a great recreational area with path for mountain biking, running/ walking and horse riding.
If you want to exercise a bit more you can continue to the former graval pit with lakes and work out stations. You can go swimming and fishing in the big lake, but be aware that the lake goes deep fast and can be cold under the surface.

This is our local beach. It's connected to the camping place, so there are also a playground, a smal shop and restaurants.
It's perfect for barbecue, swimming, play and enjoying the beautiful view over Roskilde Fjord and the city as well.

This former gravel pit in the south of Roskilde is a great spot for hot days. The water is very clean, but also colder than the inlet. Our kommune did a great effort to change this gravel pit into a oasis with beaches, bonfire places, shelters, toilets and a long bridge across the lake, where people hang out.
Be aware that lakes like this turn from the warm surface to the cold deep very quickly. So you need to be a swimmer to go there.

Public transportation
The nearest busstation is Øster Ringvej (Østbyvej). That's the one, you can see when you look down the hill from the backyard.
From that busstation you can grab a bus towards Roskilde st. or Trekroner st.
I can lend you a "Rejsekort" for all public transportation, including Copenhagen.
That is very easy to use and cheaper than single tickets.
If you agree on that, I'll show you the price for you traveling in total and you give me the money at the end of your stay.

Cycling is very common in Denmark as most of the roads have their own bike paths.
Personally I have been useing my bike/ public transportation instead of a car for many years now. It works great for me.

Pedestrian street
Don't miss the pedestrian street in the center of Roskilde. It's not far away from the mall and very charming, especially on sunny days and when there is a marked (Wednesday and Saturday morning)
