If the weather is poor, take at least a half day to explore our museum, which has wonderful interactive displays telling Shetland's story from the earliest settlements right up to the present day.

This is Europe's biggest tombolo ( a sand bar, with sea on either side). Walk across to St Ninian's Isle, where a hoard of Pictish treasure was discovered in the 1950s. Well worth a visit, whatever the weather!
