Local Beaches/Activities
Great destination for the day, climb the stairs to the top of the dunes and descend down to the beach. Get there early as the parking lot fills up and the beach is covered with sun loving families, couples, singles and everyone wanting to enjoy beautiful Lake Michigan on the perfect white sand beach. There is a concession stand and bathrooms. You must pay to park, but believe me it is worth it.

The South Haven South Pierhead Light is a lighthouse in Michigan, at the entrance to the Black River on Lake Michigan. The station was lit in 1872, and is still operational. The tower is a shortened version of the Muskegon South Pierhead Light, and replaced an 1872 wooden tower.

Local Towns

Each with their own character and charm there are many quaint towns to explore within a short drive with plenty of wineries and breweries en route.
Originally a lumber town and port, Saugatuck, along with the adjacent city of Douglas, became a noted art colony and tourist destination in the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century. Today, tourists are drawn to the art galleries, harbor, marinas, scenery, unusual stores, the view from atop Mount Baldhead, and tourist attractions as well as Oval Beach on Lake Michigan, which enjoys a worldwide reputation.[7] Nearby are Saugatuck Dunes State Park and Allegan State Game Area as is the city of Holland.

Located in the heart of the southwest Michigan's thriving agricultural region, plan your visit to Fennville. Be sure to stop in at Salt of the Earth, recognized as one of Michigan's hottest culinary spots. Pies don't get any better than from the Pie Pantry at Cranes Orchard. Featherstone Antique Mall is a 'fine' antique mall, like a 'fine' jeweler has only real jewelry, Featherstone prides itself with real antiques.

Twin cities north and south of the Kalamazoo River where it forms a harbor just before emptying into Lake Michigan, these beachtowns are known as "The Art Coast of Michigan." Over the years many artists, smitten by the natural beauty of the area's rolling grassy dunes and white sand beaches, have taken up residence and established studios and galleries. These, along with quaint and unique shops, fine dining, exquisite lodging, many attractions like dune rides, boat cruises, hiking, swimming and professional summer theater and jazz, have lured visitors from far and wide.

Holland is known internationally for its acclaimed Tulip Time Festival, a celebration of Dutch heritage. From the award-winning downtown to the white sandy beaches, you'll fall in love with Holland's small town charm and big city amenities. Dine along the waterfront or at a local cafe. Some of my favorite destinations for local food and drink
The Crane's family of businesses can be found throughout the Lakeshore with locations in Fennville (farms, pie pantry and winery), Crane's Wine and Cider in Saugatuck and Crane's In The City in Holland. Apple and Peach picking in summer and fall, you can make your own family memories at the Crane's family of businesses.

Their story begins with a single runaway goat bursting into their lives – and living room – and has blossomed over the years into a thriving cheese making business. Visitors to the farm can play with the kids or talk to Falyn, our resident retiree dairy goat. They may regale you with stories from their colorful lives! Their delectable goat’s milk cheeses have delighted palates for the past several years. They are available from mid-March through November. We also make a variety of cow’s milk cheeses year-round with Jersey cow’s milk.
