This is BY FAR our favorite place to grab a bite to eat on the island. Our go-to burritos are the fried tofu with honey mustard, the shrimp po/boy, or the Thai me up with jerk tofu. Insider’s tip: try any of the nacho platters with tater tots instead of chips!

Best place for a seafood burrito or tacos! A little on the pricey side, but the fish is fresh and the burritos are humongous.

Neighborhoods

We love our little island! We have a bit more of a low-key vibe than our neighbors up in Wrightsville Beach, but that’s just the way we like it.

Sightseeing

Definitely worth a trip! Couple of key points: The beaches at fort fisher are dog-friendly year round. There is a less-widely known access to drive on the beach here. The ferry to Southport is here and is only $5! Southport is an adorable little town with fun shops to walk around. There is an Aquarium down here!

Downtown is always worth a few hours’ visit. With an endless amount of bars and restaurants you won’t have any issues finding amazing food. The battleship is cool to see - but don’t try to tour it in the heat of summer!

You can actually access the state park by walking from the house! If you walk under the bridge to the end of the road and turn right you will see a path on your left - you’re in the state park! There are loads of walking and running paths to get lost on and enjoy Mother Nature. Don’t forget to look for Venus fly traps that grow native here!

Skate Parks

If you have kids who need to blow off some steam this is a good place to have in your back pocket. There’s also a playground here and access to the island greenway which runs through town.
