If you enjoy history & legend then St Michael's Mount is an absolute must visit. At low tide you can walk along the cobbled historic path that leads from land to the Mount or at high tide there is a regular boat that takes you back and forth. Legend says that if you stand on the heart shaped cobblestone you can feel the heartbeat of the mythical giant of the Mount. The castle itself is truly something out of a fairytale. Inside its walls you will find architecture dating back to the 12th century. Portraits of the St Aubyn family whos eyes follow your every move and even a beautiful small church that still holds a service every Sunday (please note you will be unable to walk though the church during a service) There are stunning sub tropical gardens that cling to the Mount right down to the ocean. And views that will take your breath away. You have the choice of a delicious cafe serving pasties, among other treats or if you fancy a sit down meal there is a beautiful restaurant where you often see freshly caught fish on the menu. There is something for everyone at St Michael's Mount and definitely worth adding to your list. Visit there website to book your slot: https://www.stmichaelsmount.co.uk/ Latest info taken from their website: ST MICHAEL'S MOUNT CASTLE & GARDEN TERRACES ARE OPEN UPDATED FRIDAY 17TH JULY 2020 We are delighted to welcome visitors back to St Michael’s Mount following a period of closure. We are only allowing access to St Michael’s Mount through a ticket purchased online. BOOK CASTLE TICKETS HERE BOOK GARDEN TERRACE TICKETS HERE Dogs are not permitted on the island. The exception to the rule is assistance dogs. You will walk to and from St Michael’s Mount on the cobbled causeway. A ticket to the garden terraces or castle will provide you with access to the island for the full duration that we are open on the day of your visit. Although it does vary, we will be open for approximately four hours per day, being the time that the causeway is uncovered by the sea. Please see the schedule of open days and causeway open times HERE Both the garden terraces and castle ticket have a timed element. This is the time you should be at the garden terraces or castle “checkpoint” and begin your tour of the terraces or castle. These times are important as they help us manage the flow of visitors and social distancing in these areas. Please remember that once you have purchased your ticket and we are open, you can walk across to enjoy the island including the lawns, takeaways and shops. The timed element of the ticket only relates to the one-way routes in the garden terraces and castle. If you want to visit both the garden terraces and castle you will have time to do that on the day of your visit, but you must purchase a separate ticket for each. The lawns are the perfect place to sit back and soak in the amazing views while enjoying food and drink from one of our takeaway outlets. Our two shops are open and offer clothing, locally made products and more. We are following Government and industry guidelines to keep visitors, our staff and those families that live on St Michael’s Mount safe. As a consequence, our offer is different to normal with one-way routes in the garden terraces and castle, more signage to highlight the importance of social distancing, reduced numbers of visitors, more frequent cleaning and online only tickets. We are excited to reopen St Michael’s Mount to visitors and thank you in advance for adhering to social distancing rules. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Outdoor Activities

The UK's largest and most celebrated art deco sea water lido. Geothermal heating is soon to be added!! New information taken from their website: Reopening on Saturday 25th July 2020 Jubilee Pool will be once again opening its gates to the public on Saturday 25th July 2020. Capacity in the pool has been significantly reduced, and various measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of our staff and customers but the team is absolutely delighted to be welcoming swimmers back to our beautiful lido. Customers will have to book swims in advance, either online or over the phone. Swim sessions will be an hour long, and there will be five sessions in a day (weather permitting) with a maximum of 150 people per session. Whilst there will be limited access to changing rooms and toilets, swimmers will be asked to arrive ‘beach ready’ to maximise swim time and to minimise the use of the changing rooms. The Pool will be open Tuesday to Sunday until the end of September. Tickets will be available to book from Wednesday 22nd July 2020. Full details of our ‘new normal’, our 2020 prices and how to book will be available on our website from Wednesday. The geothermal pool is nearing completion and will be open by the end of August. We will also be offering Yoga classes twice a week on the Terrace from Tuesday 28th July. The Café is operating as an outdoor seating venue only for the time being and will be open each day the pool is open. As a thank you we are offering free swims for Key Workers (and their families) on Friday 24th July – these sessions must be booked via our website. Following a request for help from the local community, a group of volunteers are helping the Jubilee Pool team to prepare the pool for reopening on Tuesday 21st July. Interim Chief Operations Officer Nicola Murdoch said ‘we like many other businesses in the hospitality, tourism & leisure sector have found the past four months incredibly challenging. We’ve been working really hard behind the scenes to get everything in place to enable us to safely reopen and we can’t wait to welcome people back on Saturday’. Susan Stuart, Chair of Directors said ‘we are so excited to be opening our gates again and although it’s going to be a rather different season, we are ready to welcome local people and visitors alike to swim, eat, drink and enjoy themselves’.

Please be mindful when planning your visit to this place. The roads that lead to it are very small and narrow, often gridlocked during busy times and seasons which make it very difficult for residents to go about their daily lives. We advise going during the early hours or early evening. If anything it's so much better then.
