Use Google Maps or HSL for public transport

Google Maps or HSL's (Helsinki Public Transport) route planner Reittiopas show public transport connections very well. Just type where you're leaving from and where you're headed, and you will see which connections to take.

Public transport tickets

The Helsinki area is divided into zones A, B and C. Usually an AB ticket is sufficient as it covers all of central Helsinki and also many surrounding areas. Usually the best choice for a tourist is a day ticket, which you can purchase for 1-7 days. Read more here: https://www.hsl.fi/en/tickets/day-tickets

Purchasing a public transport ticket

You cannot buy tickets on trains, trams or the underground. You can buy a single ticket on the bus from the driver. Single tickets are always cheapest to buy beforehand at a machine, on the HSL mobile app or at an R Kioski.
