The Lodge is exactly what it says on the label so please read carefully. Best of both worlds, downtown Nashville 40 mins; unplug unwind, switch off; rustic, romantic, rural no wifi or TV. So quiet at night the trees are loud! Stars are the entertainment, board games, vinyl, sunsets, wildlife; think mountain cabin/desert homestead.
Outdoor facilities attached with hot shower and a compost waterless pine shavings toilet. Cold water inside.
Private hobby farm goats chickens ducks and donkey.
The Lodge is the perfect getaway and yet us only 40 minutes from downtown Nashville in Barthelia.
It personifies Hygge, (pronounced Hoogaa) which is a Danish/Scandinavian concept of bringing happiness into your life - “the art of creating intimacy”, “coziness of the soul,” and “cocoa by candlelight,” are some phrases associated with it. The simple things in life are the most valuable.
Blankets, candles, loungewear/PJ’s - cakes, coffee, porridge - no TV or WiFi but books, board games, a radio and of course being outdoors sitting on a porch or going for a walk.
Bed and breakfast! We now offer an optional breakfast for an additional cost - muffins, granola, croissants, fruit and more, discreetly delivered onto the porch. Picnic lunches also available. Please ask for more details and cost.
Recharge, re-energise and re-find yourselves, re-find you!
So thinking of staying in a hotel or apartment? You might as well be anywhere so why not make your Nashville/mid Tennessee stay or vacation extra special and memorable by staying at The Lodge. It is ideal for one night if you’re just passing through and are looking for something different but to really enjoy the experience of The Lodge try and stay for a few nights - switch off, wake up and enjoy coffee or juice on the porch or enjoy the sunsets through the trees, wildlife all around, sat around the fire pit on cooler evenings or enjoy the cool Cowboy Tub on those hot Southern summer nights. Our ‘hot tub’ is a Cowboy Tub, namely cold water and no jets!
It can be very inspirational for songwriters, writers and all painters and artists.
The Lodge is possibly available for weekly stays, please contact us for more information.
We are approximately 15 mins north of the i40 on Highway 231 that goes through Lebanon and we’re 35/40 minutes from downtown Nashville (on a good day, traffic-wise).
We’re excited about the catering menu we’ll be offering our lodgers from the Spring, with fresh ingredients - selections of cold meats and cheeses, chili, curries and more; breakfasts with yogurt, muesli, granola, fruits and muffins or crisp breads. A romantic fondue with chocolate and fruit and cheese with celery and carrot sticks and more, plus a great wine list - a menu will be provided upon booking; pre-order and pre-pay before your stay.
If you’re looking for a top hotel this is probably not for you. If though you want to see deer ten feet away from you, hear the occasional coyote howl at night in the distance, and enjoy the abundance of wildlife, or just getaway from it all, this is for you. Fresh eggs, tomatoes, peppers provided (when available/in season).
The Lodge is a rustic cabin just off Bootlegger’s Highway in the Tennessee countryside, with loft space bedroom area accessed by a ladder. Powerful gas fire and fireplace to keep you warm and cozy during the colder months. A/C and fans for the hot Southern summers which can get very very humid but the Cowboy Tub will cool you down!
No wifi or television - radio and record player with vinyls, books, board games. No alarm clock as our donkey, Belle, will probably wake you up! At night it is so quiet you can hear the trees whisper or perhaps the spirits of civil war soldiers talking.
We don’t charge extra for the sound of the rain on the tin roof!
Rustic outdoor bathroom facilities in our ‘out- house’ which is attached to the Lodge. Remember it is outside so can be cold in the early Fall and winter mornings. New hot shower now, compost waterless toilet that uses pine shavings. Also this is the country so please understand everything that goes with that. It is also perhaps a good idea to bring boots In case it is or has been raining if you want to see the animals or just in general. We’re more than happy to introduce you to the farm animals - just contact us by text to arrange a convenient time.
The Lodge is cleaned thoroughly before every guest with clean linen and towels always provided, with additional clean sheets, blankets and towels in the chest in the loft. There is no cleaning fee, we simply ask you leave The Lodge as you find it. There is a fully refundable deposit required.
Available for ‘glamping’ and romantic weekends. Wildlife everywhere, trees, deer in field behind, farm animals, fresh eggs for breakfast?
Queen-sized comfortable futon bed in loft area, with low ceiling, accessed by a ladder, with a sofa downstairs, please see photos.
Small fridge, new 2 burner gas stove top and outside is a full gas grill with side burner for all your basic food and cooking. There’s also a fire pit. Running cold water in kitchen area.
Window A/C unit and separate fans cool nicely but remember this is the South! It gets very humid in the summer and they can struggle like all A/C units in excessive heat.
Whilst not quite ‘off-the-grid’ The Lodge offers a perfect place to get away from it all.
The Lodge is a work in progress as we continually strive to improve facilities.
If you wish to bring a dog please notify us before booking. One dog is allowed but must be on a leash at all times, without exception, for your dog’s safety and our animals. Please ensure you clean up after your dog. If your dog is kept alone at all in The Lodge it must be kept in a crate. We regret you will be asked to leave if your dog is not on a leash. There is a$10 fee per night for a dog which you will be invoiced for upon booking.
We are very easy going and want you to really enjoy The Lodge - there are only three ‘strict’ policies - dogs on a leash at all times when outside; no additional guests, certainly if not pre-approved - The Lodge and facilities only really accommodate 2 people; and finally, no smoking at all inside The Lodge of any kind - we provide an ashtray outside.. We regret if these policies are not adhered to you may be asked to leave without any refund or invoiced for an additional fee.
Being in the country it gets dark and we recommend checking in before dark - latest check-in therefore is currently 7 but again we can be flexible, please just contact us and we’ll work with you.
Although there is no wi-if connect to your smartphone and use LTE and check out our playlist of over 1.000 songs on Spotify.
We have a stall at the monthly Nashville Flea market and an online store, Wild Cactus Trading Co and you can now shop here at our Happy Trails camper for vintage clothing, vinyl, books and collectables. Just let us know if you’d like to take a look! All vinyl and books inside The Lodge are for sale.
All info is here with photos - please no messages pretending to be interested in very long stays and asking for a phone number, we regret these will be ignored.
