Ideal location (five minutes from Village of Lake Placid)--great bars/restaurants, stores, food shopping (even closer). Condo is neighbor to the historic Whiteface Club’s championship golf course, which offers x-country skiing in winter and tennis courts (reasonable fee) in summer. From the condo deck or front door the trailhead to Mt. McKenzie (and the Jackrabbit Trail, which runs from Kean to Saranac Lake) is a few hundred feet to the right on Whiteface Inn Road. Whiteface Mountain ski area in Wilmington--one of the Adirondack's so-called High Peaks--is less than ten miles away.
There's lots to do in Lake Placid and the surrounding area. (E.g., you can ride a bodsled at nearby Mount Van Hovenberg or go up to the top of the Olympic ski jumps, which you'll pass on the way into town.) There's some literature in the condo, and a book detailing various hiking trails. Dog sled rides on Mirror Lake, which fronts town. Great fishing in the lakes and Ausable River too. World class restaurants. And more!
Please treat our home as you would your own!
No smoking inside the condo.
Enjoy your stay.
We live in New Jersey, so unfortunately we are not always able to interact with guests (though we like to). We are, however, quickly available by phone or email.
My wife and I are in our early 60s. I'm a freelance writer; she's a professional figure skating instructor. We're both big readers, movie enthusiasts, like to travel, hike, ski, play tennis (and paddle tennis), and love hanging out in Lake Placid, New York (as a teenager my wife trained at the Olympic Arena here during summers). We have a son who is on a Hotshot crew (wildland firefighting) in Colorado. As hosts, I like to think we're flexible, empathetic, caring, and respectful of our guests and responsive to their needs.
