The Cookhouse - Beachside Hannah’s Clearing, Haast

Welcome to "The Cookhouse". Suituated a short 20 minute drive south of Haast, Hannahs Clearing is a small township established in 1962 to house workers the Carters Sawmill. The historic Cookhouse was built to cook for workers at the Mill, which eventually closed in 1979. The house sits in amongst native plantings on the beach side of the road, with access to the beach. The Tower is a comfortable two storey, seperate building with an upstairs bedroom with ensuite bathroom. It has excellent views of the sea and the Southern Alps. A warm, cosy and quiet space with a private garden. Free Wifi Downstairs is the living room / kitchenette area. Upstairs and downstairs are connected by external stairs (see photos). Awesome outdoor bath - great for stargazing. There are balconies on three sides of the tower.
