Part of a lovely organic farm along the Chama River in Medanales, neighboring Abiquiu. Within a short travel distance are countless historical, cultural, natural and recreational treasures. The casita has a small living/kitchen area, a full bathroom with Mexican tile, and a separate bedroom that sleeps two comfortably. The loft is accessed through the bedroom and can accomodate an additional child or adult A covered portal with a wood stove overlooks the vineyard and fields.
Great for artists, writers, healers, nature lovers, explorers or people just in need of rest and relaxation
Medanales is a small agricultural community just south of Abiquiu of Georgia O’Keeffe fame. The landscape varies from pastures to badlands, with the magic Sierra Negra on the horizon.

This is a very creative all solar adobe home in the high desert surrounded by gorgeous mountain views, yet within easy reach of the main roads. Enjoy the peace and quiet of pristine surroundings and wonderful hikes from your doorstep as well as many area attractions. Santa Fe is only 48 miles away.
Carson National Forest, BLM land, and Santa Fe Forest are all within 2 miles. Nearby attractions include the Abiquiu Inn; Georgia O"Keefe house; Ghost Ranch; Abiquiu Lake; Chama river rafting; Christ in the Desert Monastery; Ojo Caliente hot springs and spa; and Ra Paulette caves. The Chama Scenic Railway is 1 hour to the north. There are patios on three sides so you can always choose sunshine or shade. Each patio offers beautiful views and in summer beautiful gardens and flowers. Indoors is light filled and has 5 window seats from which to enjoy the scenery. Bedding and furniture coverings and rugs are all natural fibers. I receive great joy from both the home and the outdoors and hope visitors will find the same to be true. The couch is reasonably comfortable and the back cushions are removable should you choose this as an extra bed. The whole house is yours and from your doorstep you can walk along the El Rito River, or to BLM land or Carson National Forest. Enjoy the profound quiet, watch the Ravens play, listen to birdsong, and enjoy a starry sky or spectacular sunset with a 360 degree New Mexico sky. There are very few bugs so it is comfortable outdoors at any time of the day or night. Because this is a full solar home, guests are asked to use high draw electrical items such as hairdryer, washing machine, and clothes dryer only during sunshine hours. I have a separate apartment upstairs with separate entrance. You have total privacy but I'm available if you need anything.

This cozy 2-story home sits on 10 acres of cottonwoods, sage, juniper & willow. A creek runs along the edge of the land with views of Cerro Pedernal & several mountain ranges. Animals welcome! We're within short distance of amazing hiking & hot springs including Plaza Blanca, Ghost Ranch & Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. (If Raven is already booked, check out Hawk House also on our land!) Also offer licensed private massage +/ or Ayurvedic consultations upon request. Write host to inquire.
The house has a spacious upstairs loft bedroom with a queen bed, a full downstairs kitchen with living room and bunk bed, (2 stacked single beds), set apart enough to feel like it's an extra room, washer/ dryer, couch and full bathroom with jacuzzi. It is minimal and clean, with strong bones built in '07. It overlooks a valley of Cottonwood trees, sagebrush, willow and juniper, with lots of walking opportunities. For heating: I have the option of either a propane heater and/ or an electric infrared heater. Both are strong enough to heat the space on their own. I encourage folks to use the electric heater, when possible, as all of the land's electricity comes from our solar panels. But if you prefer/ need the extra help with propane heat, please be my guest. ;) Perfect for either the single artist, looking to be alone and with nature, and/ or a family or group, sleeping up to 4.

Definitivamente ficaria aqui novamente!

Enjoy this cozy, second floor guest unit nestled on a quiet, magical 30 acre property, filled with trees + starry skies. Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center is 5 mins away in Abiquiu. Easy access to Ghost Ranch, Santa Fe and Taos. Make this your base to explore northern NM and experience the landscape that has inspired countless artists! We are: a Vedic astrologer / Ayurvedic practitioner and a metal artisan with SF Bay Area roots. We welcome guests from all over the world + of all varieties. Cheers!
This is a great space to put your feet up and relax after a day of exploring the local sights and culture. Many people comment on how comfortable the bed is! Sink into rest, relaxation, and quiet. Need more space or beds for your group? We have another rental unit next door with a small efficiency kitchen, queen bed, and fold-out futon. Check out "Il Nido di Falco ("Falcon's Nest") For your convenience, in the cabinet near the table and chairs, we have a coffee pot, coffee, tea kettle, selection of tea, small refrigerator, toaster, cups, plates, glasses, silverware, wine bottle opener, etc. In the bathroom, there is a shower with towels, hair dryer, and fragrance-free shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Re: Air conditioning: Out here in New Mexico, where we have a dry climate, you'll often find evaporative coolers (aka "swamp coolers") instead of AC. It's a very effective cooling system, but isn't "air conditioning" per se. Pets are approved on a pet-by-pet basis, in advance. We charge an additional $25 cleaning fee to cover the costs associated with ensuring every single thing in the place is completely cleaned for the next person (who may have allergies). If you bring a pet without approval, we will charge an additional $75 cleaning fee. We are easily accessible on a paved County Road that has a short (maybe 100') section of dirt where the County Road goes through a little wash. Rental cars do fine. (FYI many roads in NM are unpaved.) There is no smoking allowed anywhere on the property, and we ask that shoes are removed upon entering the unit to help keep things clean. Thanks! Also, no parties allowed. We value the quiet out here! If you'd like to invite additional guests over, please check with us first.
We are on a quiet county road with large rural properties neighboring us, and surrounded by amazing natural beauty! Great place for birdwatchers to see eagles, hawks, woodpeckers, great horned owls, and many other species. Hiking, walking, and many wonderful places to visit nearby! 5 minutes to Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center 20 mintues to Ghost Ranch 5 mile drive to Plaza Blanca (the White Place) 30 minutes to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs Spa About an hour to Santa Fe A little over an hour to Taos WANT TO SKI? We are centrally located for FOUR Ski resorts! 1 hour to Santa Fe Ski Basin 1.5 hours to Taos Ski Basin 75 minutes to Sipapu Ski Basin 1.75 hours to Angel Fire Ski resort

La Biblioteca is the enchanting guesthouse on a magical 10-acre property in Abiquiu, NM. Originally built as a library for the main house, it's now a unique 1-BR cottage. Nestled in the landscape made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe, the house has jaw-dropping views from every window and the porch. Fantastic for 1 or 2 people, and great for a couple with a child. Come visit O'Keefe Country and stay in the coziest spot of all! We absolutely rent to all races, genders, religions and backgrounds!
The Biblioteca is a 1-bedroom cottage deep in the landscape made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe. First it was a stone shed. Then a library was built nearby. Finally a rusted steel structure connected the two, and this extraordinary cottage was born! A bedroom with a couch, a kitchen/dining area and a lavish stone bathroom awaits your visit. There's no separate living room, but the front porch serves as a sitting area with views to swoon for! Come visit this eclectic abode in some of the most beautiful landscape in America!
This area of Abiquiu has some of the most beautiful views in the area. Houses are spread out and neighbors are few, but not nonexistent. You'll hear coyotes at night and if you're lucky, an owl.

The Casita at Prado Verde Ranch The Casita at Prado Verde Ranch has a rustic feel and will take you back in time. Located on the Rio Chama River, and is on a 55-acre working ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico. This is a cozy one bedroom/one-bathroom adobe casita close to the main house but private and a 7 minute walk to the river. There are wonderful views of the pasture and barns.
It once was used as a bunkhouse for the ranch hands and thought to be as old as the main house, 200+ years. This extraordinary property was the headquarters of what had originally been an 11,000-acre ranch running thousands of cattle. This land was once inhabited by Anasazi Indians, so taking a walk in the pasture area you might find pottery shards. From the late 1920’s to the early 1940’s it was used to raise thoroughbred racehorses. Prado Verde Ranch is now home to Newell Cattle, Grass fed and Grass finished beef. It serves as winter pasture for the cattle and also calving in the spring (everyone’s favorite time of year). There are also four horses that call it home year-round and one ranch dog. The Casita is located in Georgia O’keeffe country surround by the red rock bluffs and mesas of the Chama River Valley. It is seven minutes to the Georgia O’keeffe Visitor Center and Home & Studio Tour, as well as the Abiquiu Inn and Gift shop. The Lavender Farm is only five minutes away. Bode’s, the general store and a must stop is only ten minutes away. Eight minutes to Plaza Blanca hiking area. Fifteen minutes to Abiquiu Lake. 20 minutes to Ghost Ranch. 30 minutes to the Mineral Springs in Ojo Caliente, just an hour away from Santa Fe. You can make a day of skiing or snowboarding it’s only 1 ½ hours from Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Sipapu, and Taos ski hills.

A large private Adobe home on 5 acres of pasture, orchard and forest land. Richly layered landscape full of beautiful country on the Chama River. Georgia O'Keege territory where Ghost Ranch is 20 miles north. Abiquiu Lake, Casa Blanca, Ojo Caliente Hot Springs are all within the vicinity. Restful sanctuary for a peaceful country retreat. A fragrance free and animal free home. Land of Enchantment where Georgia O'Keefe received great inspiration from the immense colorful landscape.
An Adobe home built in 1994. Spacious 2 bedroom with fully equipped kitchen, 2 wood stoves, and cozy large living room. The bathroom is basic with a shower and laundry facility. Only the bedrooms have space heaters. The rest of the home is heated by 2 large wood stoves, which guests are expected to tend to during their stay in the cold season. Otherwise the passive solar/adobe design of the home keeps her nice and warm in winter and cool in summer. Tall ceilings and large windows offers great light and cozy ambiance. The view looks out over four acres of pasture which leads to the Chama river.
The village is an old farming village. The closest store and cafe is 10 miles north, where you can purchase everything from green chile cheeseburgers, to fishing gear. There is beautiful trails in the surrounding area and beyond.

This listing is for Casa Tocaya and the guest house on the same property, La Biblioteca. The two houses can be rented together here or separately in other listings. Together they sleep a total of 8 guests, 5 in the main house and 3 in the guest house. The two abodes share a sprawling 10-acre property with views in every direction. This is the landscape that Georgia O'Keeffe adored and made famous. You may not want to leave.
Nespresso coffeemakers in both houses. Restored classic stoves are a pleasure to cook on. Washer/dryer in the main house. Wifi in both houses, but no TV. Pets considered on a case by case basis for an extra cleaning fee.
This area of Rio Arriba County is actually in Abiquiu, though it is close to the Mendanales line. It's roughly halfway between Santa Fe and Taos, but you may want to skip them and just hang out here. O'Keeffe admirers can tour her house in Abiquiu and see many places she painted on the Ghost Ranch. Tours are on foot and on horse back. I recommend getting tickets in advance, and when you book I'll send info on how to make advance reservations.

This just-renovated traditional adobe home is in the heart of the landscape made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe as well as many other artists and photographers. The house was designed to be a sanctuary of quiet and comfort when you return from exploring the area's jaw-droppingly beautiful scenery!
Great for nature lovers, artists, photographers, couples, hikers, families and kids, fisherpeople, explorers, nappers and all lovers of beauty! We absolutely rent to all races, genders, religions and backgrounds.
The house and guesthouse are on 12+ acres. The area has other homes --from movie star ranches to artist studios to some rusty trailers scattered around the landscape. It's sparsely populated like most of New Mexico and there is great hiking and walking right out the door. (As well as formal trails you can get to easily. Information at the house!) You can even hike in the arroyo during the dry season! There are dogs and coyotes and some roosters in the neighborhood and you will probably hear them from time to time. They are the music of the Southwest, along with birdsong and wind and the sound of your own breathing!
  • Um lindo lugar para ficar. Relaxante, confortável e as vistas eram surpreendentes.

Sereno, bem equipado, imaculadamente decorado e luxuosamente confortável. E, claro, as visões.

Obrigado lynn!

"Casa Paloma" is centrally located in Abiquiu, near old Abiquiu village, Plaza Blanca, Kit Carson Nat'l Forest, Pedernal, Abiquiu Lake, Ghost Ranch (where Georgia O'Keeffe painted). Close to Santa Fe, Taos, Los Alamos, Santuario de Chimayo, Ojo Caliente, Church of Christ in the Desert, Bandelier... Casa Paloma is in a peaceful setting, far far away from the city hub-bub & noise. Enchanting views abound & the sunsets will knock your socks off. Huge dark night skies made for star-gazing wait.
Most of the house is available (about 1500 sq. ft) to our guests except the two locked areas upstairs, which are the owners' private spaces. Casa Paloma has a fine kitchen for those of you who like to cook at home, saving $ on eating out each day. We offer a 5-burner gas stone w/ center grill for eggs & pancakes, a full-size stainless 'fridge & "Some of the Best water in Abiquiu" (according to Good Water reports, in Santa Fe) plus Cuisinart cookware, plenty of pots & pans & dishes & a roomy table for six to eight in the dining room allow for fine dining every day. Get your groceries at Smiths, in Los Alamos, or take a trip to Santa Fe for stocking up at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, or the many other selections there. Use our two coolers for your perishables during your shopping trip. Bodes is close-by for those items that might not have made your list - & for the local Monastery's Monk's Ale! Downstairs (where a couple might live on a single level the entire stay) offers a dining area that opens to a comfortable living room with open views to the Jemez Mtns. & Cerra Pedernal. There is a laundry room next to the kitchen, w/ washer & dryer. We also offer a clothesline, to those who prefer fresh-air 'green' drying. We use this all the time, preferring fresh clothes to the dryer. We also supply laundry detergent & baking soda, which makes for fine & natural fabric softening. The downstairs bedroom has views to the Sierra Negras & Pedernal. It has a double closet, six drawers beneath the bed & a small three-drawer dresser. LED reading lights above the bed give one plenty of light for those who enjoy reading over local brochures or journaling about the day's adventures. The mattress is a comfortable queen Serta Perfect Sleeper. A spacious adjacent bathroom has a tub & shower, also with views of the Sierra Negras & Pedernal - it's like showering in nature! A hand painted sink and hand-painted Mexican tiles add much charm to this lovely bath. Robes are included. The upstairs bedroom is complete with spacious area for exercise (a yoga mat & a few hand weights are in the closet), a writing nook with desk & dreamy views, a cute bath with Jacuzzi tub (no shower), Mexican tiles & plenty of storage. This bedroom has a private outdoor balcony with stunningly beautiful views of Sierra Negra, Pedernal, and "Laura's Mesa" (the red cliffs directly to the NW). And the night sky is spectacular! Sip a glass of wine on the gated balcony, listening to an owl in the Cottonwood trees in the El Rito Bosque below or coyotes off in the distance... Enjoy a meal on the roomy front portal, or sit undercover here & watch a distant & amazing thunderstorm over the Jemez Mountains, with triangular ruins of an ancient caldera, directly in front of Casa Paloma. The bluff flagstone 'viewing patio', off the portal, is yet another spacious outdoor site for viewing sunrise with your favorite fresh ground coffee or for a drink in the evening, watching the sun set over Cerra Pedernal. Come out later & view the brilliant, uninterrupted constellations. The fall of 2015 Pete & I built a tiered wall around the patio & have added 'rabbit fencing' beyond that. We have added seating to enable one seeing the views from various angles (as they're everywhere!), without having to move chairs around. There is also a fire-pit to enjoy for cooler desert evenings depending on current fire danger. (Hose nearby, just in case...) We also built a picnic table for the back patio, for shaded dining right off the kitchen for our guests this summer. DOGS: Well-behaved/trained dogs are welcome for $10/night or $50/week, per pet. (Max. two dogs) Again, this is a beautiful area to take your friends on long walks with you & enjoy the sites. To help you keep your pets downstairs, there is a gate that can be closed at the bottom of the stairway. We insist that you do this to keep the carpet clean upstairs - and goat heads that come in from feet & paws from burrowing into said carpet... Have you ever stepped on a sand spur embedded in Berber?... (For this reason, please only wear slippers upstairs, or go bare-footed. Thanks!) Outside, there is also a fenced dog kennel for your use (approx. 7' x 12') - but keep in mind that summers are quite warm and pets exposure to the heat should be limited. We have now built a large (3,100 sq. foot 6' tall (in most places) "dog run" with a custom-built, rustic and rugged doghouse. **Please know that coyotes do roam in this area & we strongly suggest that you keep your smaller dogs leashed when outside and on walks with you. We watch our Pomeranian at all times. Wiley is never allowed to roam alone. Please be mindful of this. We occasionally see coyotes up close to the house, and we frequently hear them calling in the neighborhood...
We have a beautiful, quiet & private home about 8 miles from Abiquiu Village proper, centrally located to all the going-ons in northern New Mexico. What I truly love is going for long walks right out our door, up through the Prado Valley area where we live or down into the arroyo, off the El Rito bosque below us. Birds & wildlife abound. We never know what we'll see when we take off. These are fine areas to walk your dog... Views are spectacular, so keep your camera (or art supplies) close at hand! Bring groceries in, but - if you want to eat out - local area restaurants are the Abiquiu Inn (for finer dining), or Bodes for a terrific green chili cheeseburger, in a very relaxed manner. El Farolito is a hole-in-the-wall in El Rito (8 miles north of us) that offers authentic northern New Mexican fare at a reasonable price. And, of course, there is Mamasita's Pizza, 4.5 miles down the road, for any such cravings. If you want to travel to Espanola (about a half hour drive), there are many restaurants from which to choose. Our favorites are El Paragua for a fine & authentic New Mexican dining experience. It's where Pete & I go to celebrate anything. We also like JoAnn's, a quaint small place with sweet people & good food at a great price. Espanola is a fun place to find your own favorites... And then there is always a visit to El Santuario de Chimayo', with it's famous 'healing dirt' (tierra bendita), of which so many people come to pilgrimage. I would strongly suggest a drive to this beautiful small & ancient church, then have a meal at the neighboring Rancho de Chimayo', with terrific food. It's a beautiful location, offering outdoor patios, as well. It has been family run for decades. Another one of our favorites... And then, of course, there is Santa Fe, full of fine food, music & festivities, an hour SE of Casa Paloma.
