**PLEASE REFRAIN FROM TRAVELING IF YOU ARE SICK!** During this COVID-19 pandemic, we are taking every possible precaution to keep ourselves, our animals, and our guests safe. We will be be saying hi from a distance. We are disinfecting every surface after every guest checks out, wash all laundry on sanitizing settings, and wash our hands consistently. Please rest assured that it is very safe to visit the farm and we value your bookings during these unpredictable times.
Looking for a break from reality with idyllic views and silly critters? An off-the-beaten-path adventure? Look no further than Happy Compromise Farm! Our 20-acre property is serene and private with a spacious yurt in its own field. Your closest neighbors are two alpaca (Hazelnut and Roy) and two goats (Big Tony and Herbie), who will most likely be welcoming and curious. You can check out more of what we do on Instagram @happycompromisefarm. We are a beginning yet working flower/berry farm and animal sanctuary. You'll see and hear us around the farm throughout the day, along with all of our chickens, roosters (all seven of them!), ducks, geese, alpaca, goats, peafowl, and dogs. We're happy to show you around or answer any questions - especially if it's about animals or farming! Currently our yurt experience is akin to glamping. It's lovely and private, and the bathroom is an outhouse a short walk away (or you're welcome to use the woods behind the yurt or field in front of it if you're feeling outdoorsy). There's a small kitchen area for preparing things like salads as well as basic kitchen implements (cutlery, cutting board, etc.), a very small mini fridge, and a toaster oven, along with handmade bowls and cups from Lumerine Ceramics (@lumerineceramics). You can also cook on top of the wood stove (we provide one cast iron pot for you to use). We ask that guests only prepare vegetarian food while on our property. Locally roasted coffee - both decaf and regular - is available inside the yurt along with a French press, electric kettle, and filtered water from our gravity-fed spring. We have an elevated wash basin with cold water access for washing your face, brushing your teeth, etc. (no real shower yet). There’s an electric heater to keep the yurt warm as well as a gorgeous, recently remodeled wood stove and extra blankets for making it as toasty as you like, even in the middle of winter. We provide some wood and have more for sale if you need it. We aim to be a zero-waste farm and the yurt is 100% zero waste. The night sky is absolutely incredible here on clear nights - make sure to check it out through the yurt’s telescope! **Currently we have three add-on options available for guests: breakfast/snacks, use of our outdoor sauna, and a farm tour (tours are currently on hold).** - We offer a small array of breakfast and snack options. Please see the menu in the yurt or in our photos for more details. Oliver is a professionally trained chef and we make all of our own food from scratch. - We are also offering our outdoor cedar steam sauna for use. We provide towels, wood, and super soft and luxurious robes. You are welcome to use the sauna more than once during your stay. It's $15 for the first use and if you're using the same towels, etc. then we just ask that you purchase more wood from us for subsequent uses. - (TOURS ARE CURRENTLY ON HOLD.) Interested in learning more about the farm? Book a farm tour! You'll meet the animals up close (alpaca selfies!), we'll talk about why regenerative agriculture is so important, and why our current food systems aren't working. Tours are just over one hour and are discounted to $25/group for yurt guests (normally $25/person). You can book a tour on AirBnB by searching "Selfies With Alpacas on Vegan Farm" or just let us know in your booking message. Please give us advanced notice if you are interested in any of these amenities as they take time to prepare and we want to make sure they’re ready for you. Think of us as a gorgeous retreat for the slightly adventurous. It's the perfect place for getting back to nature, R&R, connecting with loved ones, celebrating a birthday/anniversary/graduation, or writing that book you've been meaning to finish! Guests often tell us that they can't remember the last time they slept so well after they've stayed in the yurt with the super-comfy bed and no light or sound pollution (except all of the animal noises!), and that they can’t wait to come back.
The farm is a place to get away from it all. We’ve got breathtaking views and gorgeous drives - and not much in the way of city perks. The town of Drain is 25 minutes away and has the essentials (and a Victorian castle!). Cottage Grove is about 40 mins away and has a charming Main Street with shops, cafes, and restaurants. Eugene is one hour away and has everything you could possibly need. We’re also an hour and a half from the stunning Oregon coast and two and a half hours from bustling Portland. We're in the land of historical covered bridges, so make sure to swing by a few while you're in the area!

This charming 2bd cabin has a rustic log interior and is set back 150 yards from the Umpqua River. Surrounded by towering tree lined hills, and always a good 10 degrees warmer than the coast, this is the perfect spot to swim, fish, and relax. A large dock provides easy access to the river in the summer months.
Just 18 miles up Oregon Scenic Highway 38 from Reedsport, is the historic town of Scottsburg. One of Oregons oldest communities; there is not much here now except for a number of homes along the banks of the Umpqua River. The temperature is often a good ten degrees warmer than the coast, and with the towering cliffs of pine trees, and the river flowing peacefully by, you will realise this is a very special place. This charming cabin has a rustic log interior. The cabin has a full kitchen with all the modern amenities, a full bathroom. There are two bedrooms - the master with queen bed, a twin bed, and storage. The walls have a gap (see pictures) up the top so light and noise does transfer from room to room. Most folks never notice it. The second room is smaller with another queen bed. We have new WIFI service which works great now. Also we have added a beautiful deck on the front of the cabin to enjoy your meals while looking out over the garden. The cottage is set about 150 feet from the River on over an acre of property. The cabin shares the property with a main house that is not rented out or used when the cabin is rented. Please note you are not able to see the river completely from the cabin, as the lot has clusters of trees that provide shade. This is a perfect place to have a private getaway or bring the kids for swimming and fishing in the river during the day and campfires in the evening. There is often a complete fire ban in the county in peak summer season - that means no campfires, fireworks, or charcoal grills). We do provide a gas grill in order to BBQ. The river is tidal, and this is the last stretch of the Umpqua you can get a motor boat to. Beyond the bridge it is too rocky, and shallow. There is a dock, and the boat ramp just two miles away uptream. We can provide referrals to a number of excellent local fishing guides if you would like to try your hand. Our dock is in the river during summer months only (generally Memorial Day to early September). Its the perfect place to sit, and soak up the sun, or jump off into the river to cool down. Bring some inflatables and tie up, or bring your kayaks and explore the river and enjoy the wildlife. Scottsburg is less than twenty minutes to the west of Elkton, where you can go wine tasting, visit the Butterfly Pavilion and Education Center, or tour Fort Umpqua - a replica of the Hudson Bay Trading Company fur trading outpost. Scottsburg is 20 minutes east from Reedsport. Activities in Reedsport and Winchester Bay include; Dean’s Creek Elk Viewing, Umpqua Discovery Center, Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, ocean fishing, crabbing, sand dunes, and much more!! There is a small general store in Scottsburg just a short drive away, or the nearest shops are in Reedsport. Regarding cellphone service AT&T does not work here. Verizon, and Sprint seem to. We love it because we leave our phones off, and our troubles goodbye. There is room to park your small RV, boat trailer etc. No cable TV but we have a good selection of videos, books, or family games. Please note that no pets are allowed at this time. If you have any further questions about the area, or property please do not hesitate to email or call. *************************************************************** Area Fishing Guide The Umpqua has one of the most varied river fisheries in Oregon, including a world-class smallmouth bass fishery and strong runs of spring and fall chinook. The Umpqua’s north and south forks come together northwest of Roseburg, and the mainstem flows more than 100 miles northwest to Winchester Bay. Smallmouth bass fishing begins at the top of tidewater and continues up to the forks and into the South Umpqua. Late winter and early spring offer trophy fishing for the Umpqua’s largest bass, while the warm summers bring fishing so fast and furious that an angler could tally 200 fish in a very busy day. Spring chinook are fished from late March into July, with best catches usually in April and May. Fall chinook start moving up in August and September, although the bigger fishery for them is in Winchester Bay (see below). Hatchery coho are planted in the South Fork and move through the mainstem quickly after the first fall rains. Both winter and summer steelhead fishing can be good, with summer fish peaking in June and July on their way to the North Umpqua. The larger winter run sometimes includes a fishery for wild steelhead, and hatchery fish on their way to the South Umpqua are present in good numbers. There is usually good steelhead fishing from December into March. The Umpqua also has a good run of shad that arrives in May and June. Shad are fished from Scottsburg upstream, including popular spots at Sawyer Rapids, Yellow Creek and the forks. More: Umpqua River Smallmouth Bass Fishing (Spring Tactics) Umpqua River Smallmouth Bass Fishing (Summer Tips) Umpqua River, North Fork Treasured for its good runs of wild and hatchery summer steelhead, the gorgeous North Umpqua is also fished for wild winter steelhead, spring chinook and fin-clipped coho, and it offers fine trout fishing above Soda Springs Reservoir. A mix of hatchery and wild summer steelhead enters the North Umpqua in June, with catches high in July and August and again in October and November after the water cools. The river’s winter run gets going well in January but these days is primarily wild fish. Spring chinook are present from April through October, with peak catches in May through July. Trout fishing is best above Soda Springs Reservoir for both rainbows and browns. There is a popular fly fishing-only stretch in the 31 miles of river below the reservoir’s dam. Winchester Bay The Umpqua River’s bay at Reedsport and Gardiner is a great producer of fall chinook salmon, and it also has good numbers of fin-clipped coho salmon, sturgeon, striped bass, perch, crabs and softshell clams. Fall chinook fishing is very popular, providing catches from July through September. Hatchery coho – along with lots of wild fish – are caught in good numbers in late summer and early fall. Fishing for white sturgeon is good in winter into spring. Striped bass move between Winchester Bay and the lower Smith River, with some good bay fishing from June to October. Perch and rockfish are caught in numerous locations from boats, jetties and docks. Crabbing is popular from boats and a pier in Half Moon Bay. Softshell clams are abundant on the flats off Bolon Island and elsewhere. Boats from the ports also access offshore fishing for salmon and other species. Area Hunting Great local hunting in the valley and surrounding hills. This cabin is the perfect location in the fall/ winter season to base yourself for outdoor adventure in the area. Scottsburg is located close to the Siuslaw, Melrose and Tioga units - home to bear, cougar, deer, elk, wild turkey, game birds and more! See local fishing information at bottom of this page. Plenty of room for a group of hunters or fishermen to relax and unwind after a day on the river or on the trail.

Fully-stocked kitchen, Satellite TV/DVD with movies, books, magazines, indoor and outdoor games and a cozy wood stove. 800-foot-long secluded river beach at the end of the field with 4 kayaks and a dock, on the main branch of the mighty Umpqua River. Exquisite get-away surrounded by wineries!
Great for birders! Surrounded by orchards, vineyards and a 130-year-old barn, our very rural Valley's End Guesthouse is located on a 27-mile bike loop through the heart of the Umpqua Valley wine country... an hour south of Eugene and the U of Oregon Ducks and events at Hayward Field -- and an hour from the Oregon coast. Relax in cozy quiet in winter by our wine-grape-embossed wood stove! Organic, vegetarian cafe around the corner--fabulous artisanal bread and lunches. Private, secluded river beach a couple minutes' drive or walk, at the end of the farm field - a beautiful "all-ages" swimming hole with four kayaks on the main Umpqua River (shared with owners and river campsite rental guests). Kids' play structure by house; gas grill with charcoal smoker; shade-dappled front deck overlooking Valley's End Farm and the Callahan range; private back deck attached to the master bedroom (private door) looks at Tyee mountain and the pinot noir vineyard. The house is filled with antiques and art--- rustic, quirky, unique elegance. Are you a plein-air painter or a photographer? Wonderful, constantly-changing light! Watch the weather come over the mountains from the ocean....and watch the foxes, wild turkeys, deer, eagles, hawks, beavers, otters, herons....and jumping salmon and steelhead. A fly-fisherman? Take a look at the winter steelhead that was caught on a fly right opposite our swimming beach from the February winter river!
Privacy and the quiet you have been searching for----complete with good fishing, many prize-winning wineries, berry farms you can harvest from and make jam! Great for biking, running, rock-climbing, kayaking, swimming... an hour south of Eugene and the U. of Oregon--and an hour from the coast. Close to the Wildlife Safari in Winston. Pet-and-family-friendly, surrounded by vineyards, wineries and a hundred-year-old barn. Dogs are welcome, with a huge fenced field to run in. The Lighthouse Center Bakery and Cafe is a wonderful, walkable destination---fantastic bread out of the oven at 11! Generous, delicious lunches from 11 to 3, closed Mondays. Valley's End Farm's secluded beach is on the wide, quiet Umpqua River, complete with blue herons, hawks, eagles, beavers, foxes, jumping salmon and steelhead--- and whoever else shows up, even elk. We are in the heart of the Umpqua Valley wine country, with many internationally-awarded wineries within a few minutes. The house is upscale yet homey, with 2 outdoor decks and a covered porch. ...interesting antiques --- and the newly-remodeled kitchen has EVERYTHING you need, including many small kitchen appliances and an outdoor smoker/burner gas grill. (Make your own blackberry gelato!) I even have a "S'mores Kit", complete with a little hibachi on the back deck. :) The owners in the old farmhouse nearby would love to help you with travel ideas, and can point out what is ripe in the garden. It's a beautiful 45-minute drive to the North Umpqua River for world-famous fly-fishing, rafting and many miles of hiking trails and waterfalls. From there it's only another hour and a half to Crater Lake! We are 3 hours south of Portland and an hour south of Eugene (and the University of Oregon Ducks!), at the end of a valley of fruit trees and vegetable farms. Your views are only of hazelnut orchards, mountains, fields and vineyards. Private, secluded 800-foot river beach is at the end of the farm field--- 10 minutes' walk or a couple minutes' drive. There is a great "treehouse deck" overlooking the water with a small BBQ grill and a gorgeous view of our secluded swimming hole on the Umpqua River (swimming for all ages, and I have two kayaks to borrow!). Sit on our little river dock to fish for small-mouth bass or take your boat out from the nearby Umpqua Boat Landing for steehead and trout (and bass, I think!).... fun for the whole family. Large outdoor play structure for children, plus 2 high chairs and a Pack-n-Play. I have two comfy covered-foam single mattresses, and four tents for camping, with pads. Lots of outdoor games for your three acres, and indoor ones for rainy days, along with an extensive movie and book collection, for young and old and everywhere in the middle. Gas BBQ/smoker grill; shade-dappled front deck overlooking Valley's End Farm ---with the Callahan mountains across the Umpqua River and the hazelnut orchard next door. In season, we have many kinds of fruit, veggies and berries you can pick--and ask if the hens are laying! The back (private) deck overlooks the pinot noir vineyard, the children's play structure and Mt. Tyee. The light-filled house is homey, with comfortable furniture and antiques, books and historical Oregon photographs everywhere. There is original art in all the rooms, courtesy of my plein-air painter friends and artistic guests! Go wine tasting minutes away... The Umpqua Valley is now the 4th-most visited wine region in the country, and our many beautiful wineries (such as Prayer Rock, Abacela and Hillcrest) win international awards. Crater Lake is a 2 1/2-hour drive along the amazing North Umpqua. Golfing is six miles away, boat landing, 3/4 mile. 1 hour to the wild Oregon coast for beach combing, whale-watching, charter fishing or storm-watching. Don't forget the Wildlife Safari, if you have kids! Half an hour brings you to drive among the free-ranging giraffes, inquisitive emus, snorting rhinos... .A quarter-mile away from us is the Lighthouse Center Bakery and Cafe--- wonderful (and generous!) vegetarian lunches, great "sticky buns", pastries and fabulous brick-oven artisanal bread.... hot from the oven at 11 a.m.! Hard to resist. Have a latte with a sour-plum turnover in the rose-covered gazebo out back! Valley's End is a great place for runners or painters, writers or wine people; family reunions, romantic getaways or just a simple reconnection with quiet and nature--- just the dose of rustic, quirky elegance you need. Valley's End proudly welcomes all races, all religions, all nationalities, all orientations and all genders.

Come find your paradise nestled into our 10 acres of Douglas fir woods in western Lane County. Camp in comfort in our beautiful bell tent with a queen size real bed! We have additional air mattresses available for you to use to fit up to two additional guests. Please check out our other listings if you have a larger group who may be interested in booking one of our tree tents or regular tent sites. Lucky Stars Retreat is perfectly located next to the Siuslaw and Smith Rivers (we can direct you to the best swimming holes!). Our property backs up to 5000 acres of BLM land with some huge old growth trees, and the hiking opportunities are endless. Close to fun cities, wineries and coastal destinations, Florence is an hour away, Eugene is about 45 minutes and wineries are about 30 minutes: We can help you plan your perfect trip - or you can plan to do absolutely nothing but relax in the woods. You aren't coming to the woods to get a long list of rules, Lucky Stars Retreat’s rules are based on the golden rules - respect other people, the land, and our gear. Our property is heavily wooded, so campfires are only allowed in the communal fire pit (so long as the weather permits - please ask about the fire danger conditions). We also have a lot of wildlife. Bears have been known to visit the property, but will most likely run away when spotted. However, it's important to be aware of your surroundings, keep your dog under control, and carry bear spray (we have some for you to use when you're here). We love dogs and welcome your dog as long as its owners are well behaved! Please be respectful of other guests and keep your dog under control. There is a dog on the premises (a very cute puppy!). As of now we have a fantastic composting toilet (the sun-mar 3000), a kitchen available for guests to use, and an upgraded camping shower (you heat it up on the propane stove). Soon we will have running water, fresh spring water, on demand hot water, and many more features! We will be offering some fresh hot meals (please let us know ahead of time), ice, and other necessities for purchase. Please let us know if you have any questions. We would love to host you and share our property!
We have a fantastic communal kitchen complete with cookware, plates, and utensils. We have most of your cooking basics and spices. We have a five burner range, a convection toaster oven, an outdoor grill, and two crockpots for your cooking needs. We have coolers for you to use and ask that you keep beverages in the coolers to keep more space in our refrigerator for your food. We suggest keeping meats in the refrigerator and non perishables in the kitchen so as not to tempt animals. The tent is furnished and has linens Please note that we are making every effort to reduce our carbon footprint. We are off grid and have a low energy pull system. Therefore there is no electricity at the tent. We provide you with a battery powered lantern and a spotlight for navigating the property in the dark. There are electrical outlets at the communal kitchen so you can charge your devices. We can also accommodate special exceptions by running an extension cord for medical devices, etc.
There are some great swimming holes around and we are happy to direct you to them. The Oregon coast is about an hour away and is simply stunning. There are fantastic wineries about 30 minutes away.

Plus, each reservation is backed by 24/7 customer support and expert cleaning in line with current CDC guidelines.
Catch up on some much-needed rest and relaxation by the beautiful Umpqua riverfront with your large family or a gathering of friends at this spacious dog-friendly Scottsburg vacation rental. Up to 13 guests and a couple dogs will enjoy a quaint and quiet riverfront retreat with modern conveniences, an expansive wrap-around deck, a dock, riverfront picnic area in the huge 2 acres of space, and plenty of outdoor activities just beyond your doors. Quick access to Reedsport for coastal adventures.
Fishermen rejoice: With this home's riverfront location on the amazing Umpqua River, great fishing is just steps away, so bring along your poles and tackle for seasonal shad, salmon, and steelhead runs on the Umpqua River, as well as the smallmouth bass present year-round. Charming Reedsport is also just up the road, so head just 14 miles west on the Umpqua Highway for grocery stores, eclectic eateries, and coastal entertainment in town. Of course, the Oregon Dunes are accessible near Reedsport and activities such as clamming in Winchester Bay are also easily accessible.
This summertime rental provides a unique experience since the property has two homes - one two-story A-frame house and one split-level contemporary house. The bright and open homes welcome large families, multi-family vacations, or a getaway with special friends. Your group will quickly feel at ease with its thoughtful river-themed decor, wood paneled walls and ceilings, tiled floors, and comfortable furnishings.
Each of the two homes includes a full kitchen, as well as living and dining spaces. The A-frame has two bedrooms, one full bath, one three-quarter bath with shower, and two half-baths, while the contemporary house has three bedrooms and two full baths.
Catch up on a favorite cable series on one of the TVs, take an afternoon nap on a couch, or gather the group for board game fun on a rainy day. If it's dry outside, grab a few baseball gloves and head onto the large backyard lawn to play catch, or bring a tennis ball to play toss with your dogs (with a small nightly fee, your dogs are welcome to join in the fun!). Afterwards, head back upstairs to the wraparound deck where you can enjoy lovely evergreen views while sipping a refreshing post-activity cocktail, which you mixed indoors at the wet bar near the kitchen in the A-frame house.
When hunger strikes, quench it with a hearty meal whipped up in either of the full kitchens. Between the two houses, you'll have everything needed for quick and easy meal prep, including varied cookware, modern appliances, and ample granite counters.
And with two full kitchens, whipping up holiday feasts or special dinners will be no problem! Share fresh, homemade meals together at the varied dining spaces, which include a 10-seat dining table in the A-frame and eight kitchen island seats in the contemporary home, though you could also dine al fresco on the decks or patios with outdoor dining table and bistros. Time to call it a day? Retire for restful slumber in any of five bedrooms. Up to 13 guests are accommodated with sleeping options in both homes. The A-frame house has a master bedroom on the main floor with a king-size bed, plus a loft bedroom with a double bed, a pull-out bed, and the living room has a queen-size sofabed.
The contemporary split-level house has a master bedroom with a king-size bed on the main, upper level. On the lower level is a second bedroom with a queen-size bed, as well as a final bedroom with a twin-over-full bunk.
Other amenities include private washer/dryers for each home, four bathrooms, an outdoor fire pit, gas grills on the upper deck and lower patio, high-speed free WiFi, two kayaks, and even a dock just beyond the yard.
For those looking to commune with the great outdoors, Scottsburg is a great place to put down the cell phone and head outdoors. You won't find good cell phone reception in the area, but what you will find is loads of outdoor adventures and fun day trips. Along the highway that takes you into Reedsport, you'll pass right by the Dean Creek Elk Reserve, which is a fun stop.
Spend a day zipping up and down huge sand dunes on an ATV 23 miles west at Oregon Sand Dunes National Recreation Area, or use the provided kayaks to explore new sections of the Umpqua River. Bring along a pair of sturdy boots for numerous hikes just minutes away in the Oregon Coast Range, or head into Reedsport to check out its antique museums and galleries, including local art on display at the Myrtlewood Gallery (14 miles west) and the Umpqua Discovery Center. Be sure to stop in at the Sugar Shack Bakery in town to fuel up for your adventures!
Visit Scottsburg with a stay in this Southern Oregon Coast vacation home. Boundless outdoor adventures, small-town charm, and modern comfort await! A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.
