The name, "Edifice Rex" is to honor the caretaker on the property, a German Shepard named Rex. You will not have to interact with him ( he wears a radio collar) but he welcomes attention.

The decor is a little French country, a little shabby chic and a little eclectic. The sofa is down filled, as is the bedding, the sheets are top quality. The floors are whitewashed red pine. Rafters in the living room ceiling are made out of boxcars from Norfolk Western in 1939, when it was built as a fishing cabin. The cabin is artistically done and has twenty foot ceilings in the living room and kitchen. There is a sleeping loft upstairs for a child or young adult. Log exposed walls throughout, some whitewashed. The dining room overlooks the creek as does one part of the porch. Steps lead down to the creek.
