“Slightly upscale dining (outdoor, covered seating only); locals favorite. Currently serving a limited (pandemic) menu, but everything here is top notch. Beer and wine only. Expect a wait. Ask to sit in the treehouse. Favorites: wedge salad, chicken and grits, the trout and the curry; ancho chile terrine for dessert. Closed Monday and Tuesdays and Sundays after 3pm. Tucked back away from the road at RR 12 and River Rd. is The Leaning Pear, one of Wimberley’s nicest spots for lunch or dinner. Favorites here are wood fired pizza, chicken and grits, vegetable curry and crab cakes, but for me their wedge salad with creamy blue cheese, crisp tortilla strips, smoky bacon and sweet, chewy dried figs is simply the best. Built on a bluff over Cypress Creek with a large outdoor patio, there’s plenty to like about this place. Everything on the menu at Leaning Pear is good (check out the frozen ancho dark chocolate terrine!) and if you’re lucky enough to be here mid-week, take advantage of half-price bottles on Wine Wednesday. ”
