Stop in at the crater and Dinner Falls on the way from Cairns. Easy walk along gazetted paths through the rainforest alongside the creek. Places to swim as well.

Mount Hypipamee National Park, within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, features a deep, cylindrical volcanic pipe with a lake at the bottom, forest vegetation and possums. There are two walking tracks: the Crater track and Dinner Falls track where you can take a swim. You might be lucky to see the local Cassowary or even a tree kangaroo.

Great night life, including many species of possums, tree kangaroos, owls, bandicoots etc. You can take some drinks too if you want - it has a nice park for a picnic dinner before the nightlife begins and if you come early you can view the crater and have a swim too.
