Located at the tripoint boundary of the provinces of Zambales, Pampanga and Tarlac, Mount Pinatubo is an active stratovolcanic caldera in the Zambales Mountains. After the Ultra-Plinian eruption in June of 1991, which reached the second layer of the earth’s atmosphere(stratosphere) and Typhoon Yunya (Diding) complicating it during that time, changed this part of the Luzon terrain. This diverted rivers into different areas changing the river systems since then. As nature has redefined its physical attributes, it also has redefined its fate as it offers transients to the place an opportunity to take on a good trek on its paths. The beautiful landscape lures you to explore nature’s gifts on this part of Pampanga.

The Pinatubo eruption on 15 June 1991 was the second largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century. ... Prior to the eruption, Pinatubo was a little known volcano and it had been dormant for 400 years. There were no known historic eruptions. Before the eruption in 1991 Pinatubo was 1745 m high
