Winner of CAMRA's Dumfries and Stewartry Branch Pub of the Year award every year between 2006 and 2012, the Cavens Arms is as popular and busy as this would suggest (prepare to wait for a table at peak times). A traditional pub in style, tables are packed with diners and drinkers coming for the famous fish and chips, and eight real ales on hand pump. Third pint glasses are available to allow wider tasting, and regulars have a hand in choosing which ales are put on during regular rotations. The five regular beers include Harviestoun's Bitter & Twisted and Timothy Taylor's Landlord, while three guest ales rotate every few days, and cover a low and high abv and a dark.
