Kallithea Springs are situated in the Municipality of Rhodes, 9 km from the city of Rhodes. The doors to the springs opened on July 1st 2007, after years of renovating the magnificent seaside Monument. This unique combination of nature, architecture and history offers visitors the opportunity to relish in a special experience. Following years of desolation and abandonment, the Municipality of Kallithea and Mayor Ioannis Iatridis undertook the important task of the Monument’s restoration in 1999. After ten years of struggling, nevertheless with love, care and passion, the Kallithea Springs reopened to the public, regaining their former glory. Kallithea Springs are a remarkable and representative example of architecture integrated in their natural environment, while being built to human scale. Enjoy the exquisite architecture, crystal-clear waters, the recreation area (cafeteria), and the picturesque bay with its unique natural beauty.

Kalithea Springs or Kalithea Therme is perhaps one of the most beautiful places in Rhodes with its’ spa known from ancient times (7th century B.C.) to have therapeutic properties. Built on a picturesque anchorage surrounded by stunning gardens and decorated with pebble mosaics, the monument was designed in 1930 by the Italian architect Pietro Lombardi who skillfully created an environment of unsurpassed beauty. Nowadays, the recently renovated Kallithea springs provides the ultimate hideaway for travelers with an array of options to choose from. Since the antiquity the area of Kalithea (Καλλιθέα) was known for its thermal, therapeutic springs. In 1927, under the administration of Mario Lago, a systematic study of the waters was initiated headed by Gustavo Gasperini, his son Carlo and Enea Brunetti (who later became the of the director of Terme di Calitea). The study concluded that the water had a range of important properties and proposed the development of the area with the creation of a Thermal Spa Institution that would function in accordance to the stringiest health requirements of the time. Today Kalithea Springs is considered as one of the most distinctive landmarks on the island of Rhodes. Although the spa is no longer in operation, this fabulous building and unique architectural monument, surrounded by palms and pine trees, has been recently restored, converted to dinning and cafe facilities.
