Food Scene

It's on the second floor and it is famous for it's amazing view. Get a table outside right at the corner, especially during sunset. You can see the pier, the beach, Pacific Coast Highway and all the events on the Main street right from here. Food is pretty good and they have a full bar. Not upscale so the prices are reasonable.

Sandy's is Right on the Beach. I have been there many times. Make sure you get a table on the Patio so you can soak up the beach life happening right in front of you. You will see beach volleyball across the boardwalk. You will see people on the boardwalk running, jogging, skating, biking, just strutting about looking beautiful. This place is great for people watching!

This is the epitome of local flavor. Michelle has run this place forever and she runs it for locals! It's breakfast and lunch only, except on Wednesdays when she serves a special dinner. The kids that work there are usually locals as well (often typical surfer kids) Atmosphere is casual, inside is first come first served, outside and back usually have waiting lists. Food is dirt cheap for some reason. I suspect she owns the actual building outright. So if you want local flavor, Sugar Shack is the place to go.

Drinks & Nightlife

This place has been around for a while and it is hard to find but very popular with the young local crowd that likes to dance (usually very close-up). The entrance is right next to BJ's so you need to look for it.

Shopping

This is our newest shopping mall. It is just two blocks south of Main Street, on PCH and has upscale shopping as well as numerous new Restaurants, some upscale, some not. It is very touristy but lots of families like it and there is a center courtyard that opens up the ocean and has some cool sunset views as well.

Essentials

This center is pretty close by and has two Grocery Stores, Albertson's and Mothers Market and Kitchen. I go to Mother's almost every day! They have a great restaurant that serves up vegetarian and vegan food that is healthy and delicious. They also have fantastic health shakes (not cheap though). My favorite: Goddess of Green. If you are into Health, Mother's is your place.

Neighborhoods

Downtown Huntington Beach will give you that local beach town flavor. While actual Huntington Beach is a city of over 200K residents, our downtown will make you think you in a small beachside village. There is all types of dining, from fast food to fine dining, nightlife with bustling bars like Sharkey's and Perks, a Night Club with dancing (Hurricane's) and all kinds of shopping. Besides Main Street, there is also 5th street, just north, that has a small shopping area as well. And your reward at the end of Main Street is our world famous pier. The West Coast's longest pier! You can even grab some 50's style food at the west end of the pier at Ruby's Diner. From here you can access both the north and south side of the beach.

As an extension of Main Street, the Huntington Beach Pier is its own destination. Free of charge, you can enjoy spectacular views of the sunset, commune with the dolphins that frequent the end of the pier, eat a 50's style meal at Ruby's and buy HB Branded gear in the Huntington Beach Store a quarter ways up the pier. There are bathrooms but they are generally nasty! If you are a guy, no problem.

Sightseeing

This is a free destination. Reach it by car, free parking and then cross over the bridge and go on the hiking trail. It is a marsh and bird sanctuary. It is amazing if you enjoy bird watching. Great Pictures! When the air is clear, this is also a great spot to see the mountain range from here.
