Dilapidated rows of old fishing houses teeter over the Aegean coastline in the enchanting Little Venice where you can watch the sun set behind the whitewashed edifices above the blue sea. The area's effortless charm makes it one of the most romantic spots on the island and visitors spend large sums to stay in the quaint residences, the first of which was built in the mid-18th century.
Originally they belonged to rich merchants or captains and the little basement doors that provided direct access to the sea and underground storage areas led people to believe that the owners were secretly pirates!
