Food Scene

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Rochester. Innovative, upscale American plates to share in an industrial yet intimate warehouse-style space. Good Luck is a restaurant and nightspot downtown offering cuisine made from seasonal, local ingredients, and craft cocktails in a loft-style space with an open kitchen. They have a private dining room for gatherings of up to 25, as well as a chef's table. Reservations recommended. In a pinch, you could show up and grab a seat at the bar and order food there.

Founded in 1991, Rohrbach Brewing Co. is Rochester’s first craft brewery. The brewing company takes its name from Rohrbach, Germany, a small town that inspired its founder to bring craft beer to Rochester. The company first originated in the German House on Gregory Street, then grew into the two locations existing today–the production brewery on Railroad St. and Buffalo Rd. brewpub. Though the company has grown over the past 25 years, Rohrbachs has stayed true to its roots. You can only find Rohrbach beer in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, and their surrounding Upstate NY areas.

Jeremiah's has been a Rochester mainstay since 1978. They are a llocally owned restaurant and bar. They did a fabulous job with the interior of this location when they opened a couple of years ago. They are most known for their local award winning wings (try the bee sting sauce!) but have a good menu that will suite pretty much anyone.

My favorite BBQ in the area. Located in the Village of Spencerport, this is a great place to explore away from the city. You can get it to go but they have plenty of space to eat and enjoy. If you have room in your tunny, walk next door to Abbott's Frozen Custard and then head over to check out the canal.

In my opinion, this is Rochester's BEST mexican restaurant! They have a tiny lot for parking, otherwise parking is on the street. Great to go to in the winter, fall and spring, but in the summer they have a great table outside on the front porch as well as an open courtyard/patio to just relax and hang out at.

The National Museum of Play is the only collections-based museum anywhere devoted solely to the study of play, and is the second largest museum of that type in the United States. The museum includes exhibits that interpret the key elements of play, as well as allow guests to explore the worlds of Sesame Street, the Berenstain Bears, and the Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden, which features thousands of butterflies and is the largest in the state. The museum's exhibits are immersively themed for video games, storybooks, television shows, education, nature, history, comic books, carousel and train rides, and children's lifestyles.

Sprawling collection from medieval to contemporary works, with paintings by Rembrandt & Monet. The MAG is also the home of the Clothesline Arts Festival. In my opinion this is easily the best festival Rochester has to offer and is traditionally held on the weekend after Labor Day. It is the largest and longest-running fine art and crafts festival in Rochester with amazing original artwork, jewelry, sculptures, pottery and more by 375+ artists!
