Food Scene

Excellent food. Period. A very small place, but one that never disappoints. The type of restaurant where the owner will almost certainly drop by your table and chat. I highly recommend them.

This is the place you go to when you don't know quite what you want. A classic Greek-run diner with a big menu. The food is good, the service friendly. It has that comfort food feeling. Open from early to late, it's sometimes crowded with families after Sunday church services end.

The dominant grocery store in the area, you can find whatever you need and would find in most every other grocery store. A staffed deli, meat/fish counter and bakery. Open normal hours. (One caveat: Watch the prices. The huge signs for "sale" prices often have minuscule text with precise requirements to actually get the discount.)

This might be the best, "real" coffee on Cedar Street in Dobbs Ferry. The place to go when you have your sites set on coffee. Often open by 7am, but the hours can be a little irregular at times. It's a sole proprietor, which has other benefits and charms.

Bagels! Great, double cooked New York bagels, done the way only New Yorkers seem to know how. Here's the place that everyone drops by when walking their dog in the morning to grab a muffin, bagel, coffee, etc. And checkout the well-priced weekend special of smoked salmon and 3 bagels.

Pizza is their claim to fame. Towards the higher end of the tasty scale. A pleasant, sit-down eatery.

Mexican food, when that craving calls. Not the most efficient service, but you're going there for the drinks and fun food.

They have an iced cappuccino that is heavenly. Run by a charming Italian, what a great place to hang out and read a newspaper. Sandwiches. Small food. Sidewalk tables in the summer. This is a local favorite.

Drinks & Nightlife

A well-stocked liquor store for wine, champagne and more. Ask for Jeff who is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. If time permits, let him tell you about 18th century American history in the New York region. (Bottled spirits. The "Nightlife" must be carried elsewhere. They close early.)
