You can ride the ferry for very minimal amount, and in five minutes arrive to this island that has been recently renovated for recreation and art. When you get there you can rent bikes to ride around, or just walk. There's an area with hammocks to hang out in, and also great views of the Statue of Liberty. On the weekends they have food vendors and various events. There are also artists studios and shows there. It feels like you went out to the country!

This is the most planned and beautiful of many community gardens in the area. Open to the public on the weekends. Has a couple little ponds, picnic tables, and best of all, a little treehouse that holds a sweet library.
