My secret tip is an evening walk up Wilhelminenstraße over Schloss Wilhelminenberg and down again Johann-Staudinger Gasse. When you stay with me I can give you exact directions. From up there you have a beautiful view of the city and the spot is not overcrowded. You are on the edge of vineyards and the Vienna Woods. Lovely!

This is a very nice green area not far from my place where you can relax, have a picnic, watch the sun set and meet some deer - sometimes. You can also see the Kirche am Steinhof with its golden cuppola (visits inside are only possible with guided tours).

If you are tired of the traffic you can go to the Vienna Prater - also called the Green Prater and have a picnic. It was here that Eliud Kipchoge set the world record for running a marathon in less than 2 hours. You can rent bikes there.

This is a nature park at the outskirts of Vienna. What is special is that there are wild boars which you can see. The park is closed for dogs and therefore you can see this wildlife - deer, boars, many birds. In the center of it is a museum - the Hermesvilla, where Empress Sissi used to stay. The building as such is worth seeing and there is a Café and Restaurant. The Lainzer Tiergarten is quite popular on weekends - but if you have time for a hike during the week it will be less crowded.

The MuseumsQuartier is home to museums of modern art and some exquisite shops. It is easy to reach from my place - you just take the tram line 46 to Auersbergplatz or the bus 48A to Volkstheater.

This is a nice place to hang out when shopping on Mariahilfer Straße. They have a very nice pizza da Buffola and they also have vegan options. Recommendations also for the brunch and the coffee.

This is a restaurant on top of the public library at Urban-Loritz-Platz. Viennese people tend to sit on the many stairs leading up to it and to look down on the flow of traffic below. In summer, there is open-air cinema, which is really nice - the movies are in English. Sometimes you need to buy tickets in advance. From my place you can reach this by taking the tram line number 9 to Urban-Loritz Platz - it takes only about 10 or 15 minutes.

In Schönbrunn there is the Vienna Zoo. Tickets are quite costly but it is worth a visit. Make sure to go to the feeding of the seals! We also have baby elephants!

This building was designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, which is a sight to be seen by itself. However, what I really like about it, are the photo exhibitions. They are superb, usually featuring one artist. The show rooms are not too large so one can take everything in. There is also a very stylish café in the building.

They are superb, usually featuring one artist. The show rooms are not too large so one can take everything in. There is also a very stylish café in the building.
If you are interested in art, I would recommend visiting the Albertina. They have a good collection and interesting and up-to-date special exhibitions.

For the public transport it is best to buy a ticket for a certain time: there are options for 24, 48, 72 hours or a whole week. There is also the Vienna City Card which offers some reduction at some museums. These options are much cheaper than single tickets.
