Suserup Skov har stået urørt siden slutningen af 1800-tallet, og jordbundsprøver fortæller, at der har vokset skov på stedet i mindst 6.000 år. Når de gamle træer falder, får de lov at blive liggende på skovbunden, hvor svampe, insekter og bakterier sørger for, at de bliver nedbrudt. Skoven er blandet løvskov med bøg, eg, el, elm, ask, ahorn, lind, hassel, hvidtjørn, vilde pærer og skovæbler – alle sået af naturen selv. De ældste træer er ca. 400 år gamle. På grund af sin særlige historie er Suserup Skov et vigtigt forskningsområde. Man må derfor kun færdes på stierne, som fører rundt i hele skoven. 40 minutters kørsel fra huset.
The forest is one of Denmark's finest natural forests and one of the closest we come to a primeval forest here. Suserup Forest has remained untouched since the end of the 19th century, and soil samples show that forest has grown on the site for at least 6,000 years. When the old trees fall, they are allowed to remain on the forest floor, where fungi, insects and bacteria cause them to decompose. The forest is a mixed deciduous forest with beech, oak, elm, elm, ash, maple, linden, hazel, hawthorn, wild pears and forest apples - all sown by nature itself. The oldest trees are approx. 400 years old. Due to its special history, Suserup Forest is an important research area. You must therefore only walk on the paths that lead around the entire forest. 40 minutes drive from the house.
