Just arrived? Hungry? Go eat Ramen at Ramen Do. It's 5 minutes up the road from here, it's cheap ($15ish) and so delicious.

Up the road, cheap, solid Thai cuisine. Vegetarian/vegan friendly, too.

A fantastic modern Italian that goes to OCD levels for the best result: for their baked goods, these guys even mill their own flour. Bakery open morning to evening, restaurant open lunch and dinner. Amazing. https://www.amano.nz/

Keen for a burger around the corner? Burger Geek has you sorted. Our favourite is "The Bishop" - angus & wagyu beef double smash patties, house smoked bacon, cheese, jalapeños, pickles, tomato sauce, mustard aioli. $11.90 and worth every penny.

Have a drink?

Galbraith's Alehouse has been around since the early 90s and is the pioneer of NZ craft brewing. Lots of on-premises variety on tap, with several rotating guest beers rounding off the selection. Oh, and the food is good too.

Sightseeing

If jet lag wakes you up oddly early, why not go see the sun rise over the city from Mount Eden? Takes 40ish minutes to reach the top and is super worth it. Make sure you take photos of the bronze table showing you distances to cities around the world - maybe you can find yours? :-)

Health & Safety

Auckland is safe. There are some shady neighbourhoods, but those are down around South Auckland and you won't spend any time there anyway. All tap water is drinkable.
