Heart of Serra da Estrela at an altitude of 1437 meters is the largest glacier valley in Europe, the Rossim Valley. It is inserted in the Biogenetic Reserve of Serra da Estrela Natural Park. It has a unique beauty worth valuing and protecting, thus having enormous scientific and environmental value. This lagoon now formed before the dam was built did not exist. It is a place of extreme beauty where you can enjoy to do some leisure activities. The rappel, slide, canoeing, hiking and quad biking allow a greater discovery of the place. It is ideal for spending the day with family or friends having a bar with music, Wi-Fi and SPA.

Vale Rossim
Vale do RossimHeart of Serra da Estrela at an altitude of 1437 meters is the largest glacier valley in Europe, the Rossim Valley. Poço do Inferno (meaning Hell’s Well in Portugeuse), is a 10 metre high waterfall near Manteigas and hours drive from Rainbow Lodge. Situated on the Leandres stream at around 1100 meters altitude is a wonderful place to visit in the summer due to the forests biodiversity and shade during the hotter months. During the winter, the waterfall freezes presenting unique photographic moments.

Poco do Inferno
Poço do Inferno (meaning Hell’s Well in Portugeuse), is a 10 metre high waterfall near Manteigas and hours drive from Rainbow Lodge. The beauty of Folgosinho and the surrounding scenery is even more pronounced when viewed from the top of its small but beautiful castle. This is a magical castle built using white- pink quartz stone.
We regularly take guests to Folgosinho Rose Quartz Castle to end retreat breaks, often with the shamanic drums and tibetan signing bowls. Sound is amplified in the centre of the castles platform which adds to the sound healing experience. You can try using the drums and instruments feeling the meditative effects.
The views are incredible over the quaint village and at sunset it will truly take your breath away.

Linhares da Beira is a 12th century medieval village boasting unequalled architectural and artistic diversity, as a legacy from different ages.
It received its first charter from King Afonso Henriques in 1169. It was only later in the reign of King Dinis that its imposing castle was built, the village’s masterpiece and main attraction today.
Wandering round the streets of this museum village is travelling back in time to its history and feeling the breeze from the Mondego Valley brushing your face.

Furthermore, there is the Church of Misericórdia, with its façade a fine example of the Joanine style. Within, the main altar is lavish and there are also paintings by Isidro Faria. Also of note is the Baroque highpoint of the Matrix Church of Santa Maria, built on the former site of the lower quarter of the Castle neighbourhood. Its narrow streets also feature a rare collection of Gothic entranceways and Manueline windows.

The Vodafone ski resort is a small ski resort in the municipality of Seia just over an hours driver from Rainbow Lodge. There’s 4 ski lifts and 9 pistes totalling 7.7km in this one terrain park. This resort is best suited to beginners and snowboarders. Visitors can also enjoy dog sledding, snow mobile rides, snowshoeing and hang-gliding. The ski resort operates from December to April with the best skiing in February.
The skiing is above this village at the Torre, 1950m above sea level.
