A couple of our favorite food places close by
In 2021 Morse's opened after a brief stint of closure in 2020. We're really hoping they will be open in 2022 again. This is the closest place to our cottages, and is a no-frills warm and friendly seafood place. After crossing the famous Cribstone bridge it will be on your left. Its close enough to kayak to for a strong paddler on a calm day if you want to take the water-way.

A classic option, Cook's has grown pretty large over the last years so can be crowded. A couple of boating tours leave out of the peninsula too. We often bring the kids and get takeout, letting them run on the beach/jump on rocks as we eat and watch the spectacular sunset.

Our #1 favorite for Maine seafood the local way. Picnic tables outside, BYOB and excellent food. Best fried haddock in the area, and only place we know that offers local Maine shrimp (the tiny tasty ones).

Excellent spot for comprehensive grocery shopping - there is one in Brunswick and one at Cook's Corner. Great fresh fish and seafood section. Offers 'Hannaford to go' pickup service, look it up on the app/online.

Nice selection of produce & meats as well as local products. The closest grocery store, but the store is small. Very high quality butcher options and local vegetables. Don't miss the whoopie-pies or the other fresh baked goods available in the morning.

If you're driving through Freeport on your way to Harpswell, this is our favorite grocery store. Very close to our Freeport home it has a great butcher, excellent fish and seafood, well curated wine selection and abundant fruit and veggies. Best place to pick up high quality wines and beers north of Portland.

Sightseeing
Harpswell: Just around the corner from the cottages, these short 2x1 mile loops are a great place to run off some energy of the kids or get a short but refreshing walk in. A local favorite the parking gets pretty crowded on weekends.

If you're up for a drive we strongly recommend Morse Mountain for hiking and a nice long beach. Its on the way towards Philipsburg. The seawall hike offers a nice short hike into a quiet section of beach, get there early for parking!
