My Favourite restaurants

We moved from London to Bath at the end of 2019. We knew Bath had a lot to offer in way of a more relaxed Lifestyle and beautiful surroundings but not knowing the area so well we thought a downside compared to London could potentially be having a limited restaurant choice. We are pleased to say we were so wrong. Bath has an amazing array of restaurant, Bars and coffee shops to choose from. Being big food and drink fans we made it our new years resolution to sample a new restaurant weekly and we are still discovering great places to eat and drink all the time. See our favourites so far.....

An absolutely MUST! if you can get a table ( Booking in advance is advised). Award-winning Vietnamese café, Noya herself hosts supper club, lunches and dinners. Between her and her kitchen chefs, you will get a 5-course traditional Vietnamese meal at a very inexpensive price of £40.00 per head. You can pay for corkage and Bring your own bottle, or choose from a selection of beer, wines or choice of the day cocktail which usually involves fresh lemongrass. it's a set menu, great to do for the dining experience alone, you will be locked into a dim lit cafe/restaurant with candlelight and Noya herself as an excellent host will tell you what she's cooking for you as if she's preparing a meal only for you. She's a bubbly, energetic and personable host and well the food is just simply...... incredible.

literally every style of pizza you could possibly want. What makes this restaurant stand out from the typical pizzerias is that they give you a selection of pizza Dough choices. an interesting selection of everything from Turmeric to seeded doughs is made here. As well as unusual or plain and simple mozzarella and tomato Toppings choices. I'm Gluten Free so was delighted that my pizza wasn't chewy and that I could try a turmeric flavoured base in gluten-free. if your feeling especially extra hungry go for a sweet dough dessert. Pizzas are made in front of you on a hot stone oven.

There has been a place of worship on this spot for more than 1,000 years (King Edgar, the first king of all England, was crowned here in AD973), but many of the present-day Abbey’s most spectacular features are more recent. In particular, the Abbey’s spectacular Victorian Gothic interior is the work of Sir George Gilbert Scott, who made numerous improvements between 1864 and 1874, including the addition of the soaring vaulted stone ceiling above the nave.

Dating back to 1482, Sally Lunn’s on North Parade Passage has a credible claim to being Bath’s oldest surviving house. In actual fact, its history stretches back even further, as excavations in the cellar have revealed artefacts left behind by the city’s early Roman inhabitants. However old the house is, there’s one thing that is not up for dispute. This is the birthplace of the local delicacy known as the Sally Lunn bun. A taste of this Bath original is a vital part of any visit.

There’s definitely something in the water here in Bath. A true centre for relaxation, it’s the only place in Britain where you can bathe in natural hot springs. Whether it’s a spa day, wellness weekend or a longer retreat, it’s the perfect place for a relaxing break. Powered by the same mineral-rich thermal springs that soothed the Romans, the first to harness the city’s healing waters back in AD43, Thermae Bath Spa is a decidedly twenty-first-century take on the spa experience. The undeniable highlight is the rooftop pool with its sensational 360-degree views of the city. They’re made even more spectacular by the addition of some atmospheric steam on a cold day. Sydney Gardens, formerly ‘The Pleasure Gardens’, were laid out with the purpose of being a commercial pleasure garden, built behind the Sydney Hotel (now The Holburne Museum), which was intrinsic to Bath’s social scene. Many eligible men and women would gather and dance the night away providing them with an ideal stylish backdrop to court. Jane Austen featured the Assembly Rooms in Persuasion and attended some of the balls herself, drawing upon her own experiences for her writing. Today the rooms are used for various events from catwalks to weddings. The Fashion Museum is also located here, you can look at the exquisite Georgian dress and try on a corset and bonnet.

Jane Austen novels still make an excellent read even 200 years after her death. To celebrate this, Parade Gardens have constructed a commemorative flowerbed, designed to look like an open book and quill. It's quite a sight. Enjoy the flowerbed from the Grand Parade or enter the gardens and relax in a deckchair with an ice cream. £1.50 or free to Discovery Card holders.
