A Tudor mansion set in is the beautiful parkland in the centre of Ipswich. The jewel in the crown of Ipswich’s historic past, boasting over 500 years of history. Explore the period rooms from the Tudor kitchen to the sumptuous Georgian saloon and the beautifully detailed Victorian wing. A sort drive (or bus ride) to Shotley where you can get this wonderful foot and cycle ferry to Harwich and Felixstowe. I really recommend a locally caught lobster lunch at the Alma Inn in Harwich.

Our nearest proper beach is 20 minutes over the Orwell Bridge. Felixstowe has lots to offer. The north end has the lovely Felixstowe ferry with fresh fish shacks. Great place to swim just south of the golf course near Clifflands car park. The town beach has great pubs and restaurants, I recommend The Alex and The Fludyers. The south corner has Languard Fort and a cafe with a view back to the Shotley Peninsula and the enormous container ships.
