Food scene
Check out our favorite local restaurants, food trucks, coffee shops, and more!
This is an awesome spot just 15 minutes down the road from our place. They have a large patio as well as trendy interior with plenty of seating. We love their organic offerings including locally roasted coffee, smoothies, bagels, granola, and more. They're also open later than most coffee shops, offering wine and beer paired with cheese and meat plates in the evenings.

Spacious dog park with quality infrastructure and high attendance! We love bringing our pups here on a regular basis and we've yet to arrive to anything less than half a dozen playmates at time.

Breweries
Asheville is known as "Beer City USA" for good reason, and the outlying small towns are following suit! We have countless micro, craft, and larger scale breweries within a short distance of our property.
We sometimes refer to Sierra Nevada as "The Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory of Beer." This place is simply amazing. The scale of it is stupefying in and of itself, not to mention the beautiful copper brewing equipment, German-style dining hall, and outdoor patio with a large amphitheater perfect for the many outdoor events they host. The beer is awesome and they have lots of rotating seasonals. Their food is incredible, all locally sourced small plates. The menu also changes seasonally and is comprised of chef-inspired creative cuisine.

This one is right around the corner from us and is a fairly large-scale craft cidery with a permanent food truck, full bar, and wonderful outdoor space among agricultural land with the high mountains in the distance. The ciders range from sweet to quite dry and tart, tasting more like champagne. This is an awesome spot to bring dogs and/or kids. They frequently have family-friendly events such as outdoor movies, hayrides, and more!

Etowah's first and only brewery is a really special one. Sideways is 5 minutes from the house and located on a farm that grows ingredients used in the brewing process, as well as U-pick flower bouquets. Sideways uses a natural fermentation brewing process, so no carbonation is added. This makes for a very nutritious & delicious brew. Their tasting room is intimate and structured like a wine tasting, guided by the owners and brewers themselves. This is definitely a must-stop!

Located in Historic downtown Hendersonville (about 20 minutes from our property), Sanctuary Brewing Company brews beer to save the animals! They host tons of events to promote animal welfare and rescue missions, and donate a portion of their proceeds to shelters, etc. There's always tons of happy dogs in the brewery and their beers are unique and delicious, brewed with local ingredients.

Wide variety of beers, so there's something for everyone. Very consistent quality and taste. White Zombie is an all-time fave, and if you can catch Peanut Butter Jelly Time when it's in season, please drink an extra one for us! No food served here, but often there's a food truck as well as an amazing BBQ restaurant, Buxton Hall, located right next door. Or head to their other neighbors, Vortex Doughnuts, for a beer and doughnut pairing! :)

This is a popular stop for all brewery tourists in Asheville! New Belgium is a long-anticipated addition to the Asheville community. The brewery is located along the banks of the French Broad River on the border of West Asheville. True to its name, serving up Belgian-style ales and mandatory IPA offerings. Try a flight to enjoy all the flavors, and pair it with some grub from their rotating guest food trucks!

A bit of a trek from our place, but well-worth the trip if you're already in Asheville. Highland is Asheville's first craft brewery and has been brewing fantastic beers ever since. Awesome rooftop bar and both indoor and outdoor seating. There's always a food truck on site for dinner hours, and frequently live music as well.

O que levar
Bring lots of layers and waterproof clothing
Weather in the mountains is extremely variable, particularly in the winter months. Bring lots of layers, including a rain jacket and waterproof footwear if possible. A warm jacket, hat and gloves are recommended in the winter, as we frequently drop into low temps and even get snow!
