“Pennings is such a great little local, family owned market right by the rental also. There you can get your basic essentials along with delicious homemade pies, old-fashioned cinnamon donuts, sandwiches, seasonal fruits and vegetables grown on the farm. Fall time you can pick your own apples and pumpkins right out of the fields and also enjoy live entertainment when offered along with a cute petting zoo right next door. ”

“9 Minutes away The quiet charm of Wawayanda appeals to hikers, campers, swimmers and boaters. Forested hills surround Lake Wawayanda creating a restful backdrop for canoeists, boaters and fisherman, while steep mountains challenge casual as well as serious hikers. A twenty-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail runs through the park, while the top of Wawayanda Mountain offers sensational views. More than sixty miles of trails are marked in the park. ”

Natural Feature
“Significance: The tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania, cliff views, Pond Raymondskill falls is closest to the parking lot. You only have to walk about 0.2 miles down a semi-rugged hill to get to the main part of the falls. There are three tears to these falls and the trail provided to us by the national park will take you to the middle and top. The middle section has a viewing platform where you can see a good portion of the 178 foot waterfall. It is a great experience especially after a big rainstorm. Steps lead you to the top where you can get a limited view looking down. There is a great view from the bottom but no direct trail leading there. **FYI. Morning and early afternoon the sunlight reflects heavily off of the water making it very difficult to get a picture. Across the street from the Raymondskill falls parking lot is the trail head for the Cliff Trail. ”

“The view from High Point Monument, at 1,803 feet above sea level, is a spectacular panorama of rich farmland and forest, soft hills and lush valleys in three states. The blue line of the Delaware River divides the verdant ridges of New Jersey from those of Pennsylvania. High Point offers superb trails for hikers and skiers and quiet spots for campers and anglers.”

Waterfall
“Here is some of what you need to know: This is not the back country where majestic waterfalls are found by slogging over rocks and through brush. You are in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and they prefer their waterfalls to be on display like it’s the Macy’s department store. Take it for what it is, and know that because it is easy you will have time to hit several other falls in the area like Raymondskill and Buttermilk falls. -These waterfalls are wheelchair accessible and closed during the winter. This hike starts from a visitors center parking area. The lot is large but it fills up fast according to the park website. A boardwalk or flat surface travels past all the main attractions so people with limited mobility have the opportunity to see this wonder of nature. The first waterfall is the Silver Thread; its two tiers add up to 80 feet and the thread of water falls into a neatly formed channel. After a short stroll through a Rhododendron tunnel (Rhodies bloom in May), you will arrive at Dingmans Falls. Here you will see the water drop and cascade for an impressive 130 ft. The surrounding vegetation gives this area a deep jungle feel. Seats are in place so you can hang out for a little while and watch the water roll by. There is an option to take some steps to the top of the falls. It’s a short trip and cool enough to make it worth the effort.”
