Volcano
“This is the most visited National Park in Costa Rica. It is the tallest volcano in the country at 11,300 feet. Your best bet to get a view of the crater (and possibly all the way to both coasts) is early in the morning between December and April. Temperatures hover around 45F and the constant winds and saturating humidity contribute to a bitter cold at the rim. Take your warmest clothes and layer up—some have commented that they would have worn a parka if they had one. Remember that you are near the equator at a significant elevation—the sun can cause burns in less than an hour at the summit. ”

Restaurante
“Los Almendros is the small popular restaurant...for good reason. The cuisine is fresh and made with local ingredients. US born chef, Karen is a long time resident of the little village of Esterillos Oeste. Her Asian-Caribbean fusion dishes like Pad Thai, Caribbean-style Chicken, and Jamaican Jerk are always a hit. She also offers fresh catch-of-the-day (right off the beach!) like mahi mahi (Dorada) and tuna (Atun) and has vegan and vegetarian options as well. Open for dinner only. Closed on Wednesdays. Located one block up from the beach, near the local kids'soccer field Really fun vibe and welcoming atmosphere. Always a pleaser!”
