“For a special night out, when I crave seafood or surf and turf, we go to Asado on 6th Ave. It is a Argentine-themed steakhouse with some fantastic wines. One of my favorite dishes in Tacoma is the stuffed Pork Chop. It is incredible! Asado has won the best of Western WA's Best Latin American Restaurants for the past 6 years.”

Restaurante Americano

“Cool restaurant/bar in an actual 100 year old firehouse. They kept the horses in the room to the side. They brew their own beer, but have a lot of other local brews on tap. My go to meal is either the Bison burger, Steelhead Tacos, or Steelhead plate with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Wednesday nights are Quiz nights beginning at 7 and running for three rounds, one starting each hour. It's free to play and prize is $10 for top score each round. ”

Bar

“Famous 83 year old Tacoma bar with an outstanding beer list. Monday nights are Randall nights where they take a standard beer and run it through whatever Sean thinks will send it next level - usually more hops, fruit, and/or sometimes even chocolate, coffee, and marshmallows. I think I've seen him put Butterfinger candy bars in there. They have a small patio out front that is perfect for enjoying a nice afternoon or evening. There is a pool table in the back, as well as a few other games. ”

“Our favorite greasy spoon, with options to order at the counter or get full-service waitstaff in the dining room. Go for the avocado and bacon omelette. Make the potatoes “magic.” If you have a sweet tooth, go for the apple pancakes. $8-$14/plate.”

Cafeteria

“An iconic Tacoma Bar. In fact, it's the oldest in Tacoma! That alone is a reason to check it out. Serving local beer, bar food and local Valhalla Coffee. There is one pool table and dart board and their weekend calendar is often filled with local bands and artists who create a very lively night scene! Bring your dancing shoes and willingness to meet some locals, The Spar is a fun place to be on most Friday and Saturday nights. ”

Pizzaria

“Katie Downs is one of the oldest restaurants at the Waterfront and is known for the handmade pizza and cold beer. Depending on where you sit and just how busy they are, you may have to go up to the counter and order vs. being waited on directly. So get a pitcher of beer and enjoy the tranquil views of the water! It's beautiful even on a rainy day. ”

“650 beers in the cooler and about 30 on tap. Great sandwiches and always a good crowd, but not too crowded. It's in the Proctor neighborhood, which has quite a few cool shops and restaurants.”

“Brewers Row - Located on the corner of 26th and Proctor. A casual beer and taco joint. Local beer, homemade guacamole and authentic tacos. If you sit outside, you'll get to people watch while enjoying your food. Not only that but this restaurant is located within a residential neighborhood! The surrounding architecture is inspiring and fun to be around. ”

“This place is specific to Washington. The location in Tacoma is right on the waterfront so you can see the sound. I recommend the Armadillo Eggs for an appetizer.”

“Pomodoro; arguably the best Italian restaurant in Proctor District Tacoma! Monday and Tuesday they offer $20 bottles of wine and have weekly specials. If you arrive on a warm summer day they open the store front on 26th. People watching + great Italian food = fun. :) Cheers 🍷 🍷 ”
