“This is a privately run library, rather than a store focused on making bestsellers fly off its shelves. The wooden interior has a laid-back atmosphere. Members visit for free, while others pay an entry fee. It’s open late, and there’s a nice bar where you can order drinks tied to Japanese literature. It’s a place any book lover would love to call home. The owner’s name is Mori-san, which is why it’s called Mori’s Library. The members get to choose the book selection, a unique approach for a community library.”

“The entrance may not be that obvious if you're coming from Shibuya Station, but Sakestand is all the better for it. This narrow, standing-only bar hidden away on the second floor on a side street off Dogenzaka is a little gem for those looking to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of sake. They serve a changing lineup of sake from across the country, presented in wine glasses with a small tag attached that states all the info (including the name in English) you need to find it again. Small nibbles that go well with the drink are on the menu as well, as are beer and wine if you really can't muster a glass of nihonshu. ”

“Bubbles, or "baburusu" in Japanese, is a secret little wine bar, tucked away down a side street in the many alleys featuring Dogenzaka's love hotels. The only signage for this establishment is a tiny framed photo of a monkey's face with the word "bubbles" that rests on the ground outside the entrance. This is a great spot for a date in a quieter, more intimate, yet stylish setting. Besides the fabulous wine bar, they feature cheese, rare honey, and exquisite snacks like rare ikasumi beef (beef darkened with squid ink).”
