Nature
“The Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or TVAONB for short, is a special area around the rivers Tamar, Tavy and Lynher. The area is famous for its mining heritage landscape. A team of dedicated staff and volunteers run projects and coordinate work to protect the Valley. On one side is Devon, the other Cornwall. The Tamar Valley extends north from the broad estuary at Plymouth to the intricate, deeply incised river that meanders just below Launceston and Tavistock. It borders Dartmoor National Park to the east and the Kit Hill area to the west. The exceptional cultural significance of the Cornish mining landscape transcends international boundaries. ”

Bus Station
“Travelling from Gunnislake to Plymouth, you quickly become immersed in the views of the beautiful area. Rolling green fields with cows and sheep peacefully grazing, sleepy villages and beautiful river crossings. The highlight of the journey is when the train slowly creeps down over the Calstock viaduct and you are 120 feet high looking down on the river below. Look closely out of the window and see the National Trust house Cotehele nestled in the woods. Dogs are welcome on the train. ”

“This is our dear local artist, Ian Pether's home and studio. Breath-taking detailed artwork. If you are lucky he might be running his model railway in the garden. Great for holiday and Christmas gifts”

Estação de trem
“A very special line that survived Beeching's cuts of the 1960's - bringing early season daffodils, strawberries, cherries and apples to Plymouth and thence to the markets of London's Covent Garden and beyond. Iconic views from Calstock's viaduct over the Tamar, through farmyards and orchards, beside creeks and suddenly alongside Her Majesty's Naval Base, Devonport, the largest naval base in Western Europe and the sole nuclear repair and refuelling facility for the Royal Navy. ”
