“I don't quite know why it's called a BBQ shack, because that's not their main dish. It's just a general comfort food. The best thing about this place is it's located at the Canyon Lake Marina and overlooks the lake. Sunsets are beautiful here and the sails from sailboats in the horizon just adds to it!”

Point of Interest
“Amazing view and very fun spot to swim with shallow areas for kids and deeper areas for adults. The walk down is a bit steep so pack light ! Not much shade so make sure to use SPF! Continue to the left and keep walking for our favorite area where the water turns into a ledge where you can sit but drops off deep for amazing swimming! ”

Parque
“Overlook park is a great place to view and access Canyon Lake. It is located on the other side of the dam. You can either walk/ ride your bike there across the dam or drive around and park in their lot. This is a very popula park with free access. Parking capacity is limited so go early (before 10am)or go late (after 4:30) to avoid the park being full upon your arrival.”

“Google Canyon Lake Gorge Tour and you'll find info on viewing some amazing history of the lake. Created after the big flood of 2002, when huge amounts of water poured over the spillway & exposing rock strata over 111 million years old! Small waterfalls, dinosaur prints as well as fossils can be seen. Its a workout, so do wear comfortable, good gripping shoes. Pack a couple bottles of water each (especially during summer) & plan around 3hrs to complete. Beautiful &interesting.”
