Pub
$$
“Architecturally significant pub (it belongs to the National Trust, who ensure it remains authentic) just over the road from Borough Market. Dating back to the 17th century, it is a must-see. The only drawback is that the drinks selection is okay and the food of average quality, but the building is well worth seeing. ”

“a paradise for beer aficionados, with over 100 different kinds of bottled beer to choose from, sourced from all over the world. If draft beer is your thing then The Rake has seven keg pumps and three cask ale handpulls. ”

Restaurante de Tapas
$$
“One of the first genuinely good tapas restaurants in London. If you’re after a steady interpretation of the classics (padron peppers, quality jamon, tortillas and garlic gambas) and authentic Spanish bustle to boot, head here.”

“Primarily a meat restaurant and on the pricier side but definitely worth it. Their Scottish breakfast is insanely huge and so delicious. Plus it's located in Borough Market so you can wander the stalls afterwards for dessert!”

Restaurante europeu moderno
$$
“There’s a modern-canteen feel to this restaurant, which bases its menus on what’s in the market that day. Food is cooked on a wood-fired grill, which makes for mighty flavoursome cheese burgers and delicious Barnsley chops.”

“Rare is the evening – or, for that matter, the Saturday afternoon – when this place isn’t packed to the gunwales. The reasons for its popularity are plainly apparent: a handsome, old-fashioned room; a plum location; and one of the best real-ale selections in London. Spend any time here, though, and its shortcomings will become obvious: the staff who don’t seem to have much idea what they’re serving, a shame given the huge variety of ales and the lack of a central board detailing what’s on offer; and the lack of seats in the S-shaped room, which fosters not so much intimacy but discomfort. ”

Pub

“Of all the Borough Market pubs, The Globe has the sleekest, smartest look. The interior is a temple of dark woods and superfluous glassware. It's very handsome. The bar puts keg ales and lagers front and foremost, but there's a small selection of draught stuff hidden to one side. This is also the best pub in the market for wine drinkers. Most of the seating is of the perch-on-a-stool variety, but there's a quiet little backroom with more comfortable reclines. Further space is available upstairs for diners.”

Bar
“Nice and cosy by day, humming with custom during the evening, the Southwark's a good all-rounder. It's perched on the edge of Borough Market, in the same busy row as the Wheatsheaf and Market Porter, with further competition coming from the excellent Wine Pantry. Yet it manages to eke out its own niche. The main bar is curvy and modern, with Georgian touches to the decor. The beer range (six real ales when firing on all cylinders) gives some of the more famous pubs hereabouts a run for their money. Also, we love the music in this place — whoever puts the playlists together has a taste for chilled-out yet melancholy sounds. Perfect.”

“Arabica manages to capture the golden age of the Levant solely through its great food and buzzy vibe – visual short-cuts such as belly dancers and ‘Arabian Nights’ murals are kicked to the kerb in favour of a more modern cliché (London’s ever popular bare-brick-and-filament-bulb decor). Dishes hail from all corners of the Middle East and neighbouring countries. For drinks, try Lebanese, Syrian, Israeli or Turkish wines, or one of the spectacular cocktails. Table-turning is strict, but Levantine-style hospitality means you won’t feel rushed.”
