River's Nest is a restored 1930's cabin in historic Rio Nido near the Russian River. It is retro, stylish, rustic, family ready and fab for your vacation in the woods. 10 minute walk to restaurant and River. We are 2-3 minutes drive into Gurneville.

O espaço
Redwood trees in the canyon set the background for River's Nest. Originally little more than three rooms and an outdoor privy, it was summer quarters to SF fireman, Ed Burke and family. We are only the third owners. In 2013 we began a bottom up renovation, saving and restoring as many details as possible. The backyard features colored concrete, outdoor shower, fire pit with deep lounge chairs, teak outdoor table for dining, lighting, and of course gas grill and prep table.
The interior space has hardwood floors, pine ceilings and a 50's inspired kitchen. Beds are dressed with extra pillows and high thread count sheets. The wood stove heats the whole place. Sunlight pours in through multiple sky lights during the day. At night many different moods can be set with the creative lighting. The cabin is warm, cozy and full of style. Form and function merge into a wonderful getaway spot that easily hosts you and your people.
You will love use to visit local sites or just to truly unplug and connect with nature while staying here.

Localização

Guerneville, Califórnia, Estados Unidos

HISTORY: Rio Nido (which literally translates to: River Nest) is a neighborhood of Guerneville. It sits in a canyon forest. Most of the cabins were built in the 1930's by San Francisco Fire and Policeman as summer homes.
When built, homes here were uninsulated 'glamping' cabins.
CURRENT: Right now many homes are being updated to current standards. The neighborhood experienced a period of decline in the 80's and 90's but is now in transition and includes folks of all socioeconomic levels. There is a mix of full time residents and vacationers. As in many areas, Guerneville has its share of hippies, folks who do drugs and some homeless people who hang around near us. Overall, its not an issue. If anyone feels at all uncomfortable, we encourage you to phone the local police (their number is on our phone) in order to keep things on an even keel. As with everywhere, its important you lock your cars, and keep the house locked when you aren't there. If you bring valuables (like bikes) we recommend you lock them onto our 2nd story front porch which is not reachable from the street.

I am a career Registered Nurse and hypnotherapist, working in Northern California. My husband and I are home remodeling enthusiasts who have renovated multiple properties. Outrageously responsible, empty nesters we love to vacation in homey places. We love gardening, kicking back with a good book, enjoying a good bottle of wine and visiting our family.
