O espaço

The apartment is in the clock tower above St Pancras International Station. This guest suite with a double bedroom on the 4th floor looks out over Kings Cross Station. The apartment has another double bedroom, also on the 4th floor being used by the owner or by other guests. This guest suite has all its own facilities not shared with others including in addition to the bed, a living area, a small kitchen/dining area and its own bathroom and shower.

As the apartment is on the 4th and 5th floors and fully equipped with secondary glazing, the road and railway noise is very low and almost nobody notices it but I would advise delicate sleepers to be aware of it before booking.

The suite is available for short or long-term letting and ideally suits couples on holiday in London for a few days or a week.

There is additional bedding available by prior arrangement if one or two others want to stay but THIS NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED WITH THE OWNER AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. Clean towels are provided as standard as are soap/shampoo.

This listing is very heavily booked but it may be worth looking on my other listing (ST PANCRAS CLOCK TOWER MASTER SUITE) which is for the master bedroom which I let out when I am not using it. The main difference is that you would then use the main kitchen on the 5th floor. Or contact me with an enquiry and I will let you know.

Little things are provided in the apartment, such as a hairdryer, international plug adaptors and umbrellas. Let me know if you need London Oyster cards for public transport (electronic cards for you to use and top up) or a UK SIM loaded cellphone.

The clock tower was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott like an Italian bell tower but never held bells. The clock never has and does not ring. On the 5th floor, the clock tower room's height lends itself to some extraordinary events. See YouTube for a video of an aerialist on a rope (Gisele Edwards) or a silk rope artist (ErialC).

This listing is for a suite best described as an apartment within an apartment. It is for a 4th floor bedroom with double bed, en suite bathroom, en suite kitchen and sofa and table and TV. There is central hi-fi throughout the house and a hifi jack in a wall in the room. The kitchen is small but adequate for small meals, breakfasts and microwaving food.

If there are more than 2 of you or you want a different bed arrangement from a double bed (eg extra mattresses) please discuss this in advance with me before booking. As there are a lot of stairs and hazards, I really prefer not to take bookings with children under the age of 9 unless they are very closely supervised by their parents.

Please be aware that you will be sharing the flat with the owner or with other guests. The photographs also show the 5th floor Tower Room. Occasionally the flat is used for day functions, evening pop-up restaurants or photo shoots but I shall try to inform you of any such appointments. Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and lockable doors for security. The main clocktower room is upstairs on the 5th floor in the flat and if it is not being used you are welcome to pass time in it, subject to liaising if there are other people staying in the flat. It is also sometimes used by local community groups but I will let you know if it is.

I am as flexible as I can be on arrival and departure but it is essential that visitors consult me on and keep to their plans, so that I can manage my cleaner and bed changing and make sure there aren't two couples competing for the same bedroom at the same time of day.

I have marked it as handicap accessible. It is not straightforward (there is an extra elevator to use) but easy to sort out as long as I know in advance so I can give the instructions clearly.

I am not always at St Pancras because I spend a lot of time up in Cambridge where I am finishing the restoration and conversion of some buildings going back to the 16th century. I try to diary to meet my guests if I can but if I am not there when you arrive, the concierge will supply you with the key to the apartment.


If you want to hold a celebration party, please discuss it with me and please be fair to me in following the basic rules. Any events going beyond 2230 normally require a booking to be made for the whole apartment as it is otherwise unfair on other guests. There may be an additional charge for holding a party depending on the scale and duration. A 500 pound security deposit will normally be required for any groups in excess of 20. The main rules are that loud music does not go on beyond 2330, that guests do not mill out into the corridors of the building, that there is no glitter/confetti/paper string and that you agree to pay for any extra carpet cleaning required by large numbers.

Unfortunately we have had a few guests take advantage of us and I do therefore take the time to agree a clear timetable both for the party and for the clean-up. I expect guests to adhere to this not only for my benefit but also for the benefit of the neighbours.

O bairro


It is within walking distance of many of London's sights, from the British Library next door to the British Museum and the West End 20-25 minutes away. There are lots of shops in St Pancras Station. The best mainstream grocery store nearby is Waitrose in the Brunswick Centre. There is more public transport within 100m than almost anywhere else on the planet (buses, metro, rail).

What is really exciting about Kings Cross now is its pace of development. New office buildings will house the European HQ of (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and many other businesses. As offices are completed, they are fully let such is the demand for space in this area.

The opening of new restaurants and shopping facilities now and over the coming years is transforming a former post-industrial desert to one of the most exciting parts of the metropolis.

Public Transport

The public transport is fantastic. There are 5 underground lines and dozens of bus routes as well as the mainline services to the north (St Pancras to Leicester, Sheffield, Derby), the north-east (Kings Cross to Edinburgh, York, Leeds, Cambridge), the south-east (St Pancras to Canterbury, Dover), the continent (St Pancras to Paris, Brussels) and the north-west (Euston to Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester).

All London airports are easy (St Pancras to Luton or Gatwick), the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow), the Metropolitan and DLR to City), the Victoria and mainline train to Stansted) or Liverpool Street to Southend.

This is a great building to stay in. Please do respect the fact that the building is home to many other residents and be careful not to disturb them if you are taking photographs in the common areas.

This spare bedroom is for guest use as it is more like a self-contained flat. The rest of the house should be respected, though it can be freely used when the host is out. Please don't touch the books apart from those in the guest room. The host does a full clean and will tidy up any leftovers in the fridge after you leave.

Please take off outdoor shoes before going down to the bedroom.

Please - no smoking inside the flat.

Please use the words "long corridor" in your first message to me, so I can appreciate that you have read these notes.

The first thing to say is that this place is enormous. We just stayed one night and, being local, were able to bring some food to eat in and share with a couple of friends. We stayed in the Guest Suite which is, as the description says, a large studio flat which takes up half of the lower floor of the larger apartment. The Guest Suite has its own kitchen and table that easily seats four people. There is a double bed and a sofa bed/seating area with TV, and it has its own bathroom. We were free to roam around the rest of the apartment (excepting the master bedroom which was also booked) and enjoyed sitting in the clock tower room on the upper floor with its double (treble? quadruple?) height ceiling and views out into area around King's Cross. We could have used the main kitchen/dining space on the upper floor for our meal as there was nobody else around for most of the time we were there but the Guest Suite was just fine for our purposes. We would recommend Peter's apartment to anybody visiting London. It is very comfortable (it is five stories above the noise of the streets), is in a great location (particularly if you are arriving at St Pancras or King's Cross!) and the area has great facilities (try the Spiritland Bar for some cool music). We had a fantastic short stay in the clock tower guest room and loved it. The location and views can't be beaten. It's not an area of London that we've visited before, the British Library is well worth a visit as are the stations of St Pancras and Kings Cross. Would love to stay again!

The location is very special on the top of the station! But without any disturbance from it. The appartment is very well appointed with anything one could possibly need. We stayed for two weeks, and we plan to return later in the year. Our host, Peter, was very helpful in every way.

We had a great time in the clock tower. The location is very central and we had immediate access to the underground and also the eurostar. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. The kitchen was also useful but most of the time we ate outside on our way through London. Peter was not there when we arrived but the check-in was easy and we got our keys from the concierge. Peter was a friendly and welcoming host who always tried to help and support us in different ways - when he was there. But he was very busy and always on the run. It was a nice experience to stay there and definitely a good location to stay if you want to explore the city and if you are bored with hotel rooms.

Great place - very central with easy access to the tube in zone one. Peter is a very nice gentleman and a wonderful host. Make sure if there are more than two staying on your visit that you clarify in advance what your sleeping arrangements are; we had three in one room but had thought that the landing futon would have been made available to us, but were wrong. Also - you can hear the tube trains running during the evening, so if you turn in by 10 or 11 and are a light sleeper, the noise might be an issue. Not sure if or when the trains stop running - I always fell asleep acceptably...

Agreed. This was not the best-managed visit for either of us. Guests should please follow my request to discuss bedding arrangements with me in advance or before they book if they want other than a double bed. Unless you are an extremely light sleeper, the traffic noise will not be a major issue. It is very rarely raised by guests. All rooms have secondary glazing to avoid any major street noise.

My parents stayed at the Clock Tower and had a great time. Wonderful location and amazing views. Peter was also a great host, letting my parents drop their bags off before check in. Peter was easy to communicate with too. Great experience!!

This is such a special experience. The views, the thrill of being in the St Pancras clock tower did not disappoint. Everything is beautifully arranged and all amenities provided and Peter is a welcoming host, keen to make sure everything works well. Fantastic links into central London too for theatre, exhibitions etc. Perfect for a special break.

Hello. Tim and I are pleased to call the Clock Tower of St Pancras our home. This is part of the fast-growing area which is Kings Cross in Central London. Being so well-connected within London, the UK and Europe, thanks to Eurostar, makes the Clock Tower an ideal base for any visit to London.

We moved to Kings Cross 30 years ago and have seen the area change from a dingy area of deserted rail depots and run-down shops to a district full of new restaurants, hotels and shopping and transport connections.

I am a pensions actuary, but nowadays I am involved in many other things, such as property maintenance and development, charity trusteeships, beekeeping and taking holidays myself in Airbnb properties elsewhere.

As a City of London guide myself, I have a passion about the warp and weft of my town and relish the chance to share this enthusiasm with my guests.

We are fond of books and the flat is well-filled with them. We enjoy travel especially to Turkey, music, Mathematics and the cultural opportunities presented by our capital city. I also have an interest in sundials and their design.
