It was such a pretty view from the back end of our old iron shed. Long grassy paddocks, and the hills in the distance. Amazing sunsets. It was too good to waste...long story short we built you a Shack. Perfect if you are after a unique little place to getaway but still want to be close to the action. Eumundi is a 3 minute drive and it's only 18 to Noosa Beach. Be sure to be home before the sun goes down. Happy hour on the deck is the place to be :-)
"The Shack" has two bedrooms and can sleep up to 4 people. It has one Queen sized bedroom and a TINY bunk room which is perfect for kids as they feel like they're in a cubby house. (Have had plenty of adults sleep in the bunks as well...we've had no complaints...BUT personally I don't find them THAT comfortable - the foam compresses a bit and hits the base underneath...maybe I'm just too heavy :-/
We are on 25 acres and have horses - Jasper the big boy and Rainbow the mare - both rescue horses..cows in the next door paddock, a couple of goats called Andre and Norman and a cute but aloof miniature horse called Chocky. Unfortunately we only have one overly friendly chicken left who is very tame and may occasionally leave a surprise on your steps :-( sorry ! Wild kangaroos come and go often...and some naughty bandicoots come in the night to clean up any grain the chicken missed. We are getting more chickens soon when we get a proper fox safe enclosure built. When that happens we can give you our amazing eggs again.!!
We are located across the road from the entry into the Eumundi Conservation Park. This park is popular with horse riders, mountain bikers, and bush walkers...the walk around the Geebung circuit loop is lovely and takes around 45 minutes. Bring your horse if you have one...they will LOVE it here.
When you arrive at 154 take the driveway right to the end. The Shack is located in the far back corner of the big iron shed...we are out a lot of the time but the place will be left open for you. It will be ready by 3pm ...please arrive, unpack, kick back and make yourself at home:-)
Acesso dos hóspedes
You have access to the shed and surrounds. The "games room" in the shed is communal but unless you are here for an extended length of time you probably won't see our kids much (Phoebe 20, Tom 17 and Ben 13)...they have Uni, school and many sporting and work commitments....and we are always off working in our other jobs as well. One of the kids usually feeds the animals late afternoon ...they are happy for you to join in if you want. The animals LOVE your vegie and fruit scraps (goats eat literally anything...onion peel, orange and lemon peel, pineapple peel...nothing goes to waste here) .... just throw your scraps over the fence...
Interação com os hóspedes
Massive interacation from the animals! As for us we are totally available if and when you need us. We are very social as a rule but understand you didn't come here to talk to us :-) Besides that, we are also extremely busy with our other 'real' jobs so not around a great deal. Always available and very happy to help with anything you need via message, text or phone though :-)
There are a few kids games and books, drawing stuff etc. Our 4wd pedal buggy is old but still seems to be a hit with the kids (beware you'll probably have to push) ...
Not many rules....We are a rural area so you're pretty safe to get your favourite music on, just turn it down at a reasonable hour. Smoking outside only...please use ashtrays provided. Our pool table is old but it's the only one we've got so please don't let kids get up and run on it or treat it carelessly. If your kids have never played pool before just ask one of my kids (Phoebe Tom or Ben)...they will happily give them a lesson in pool table basics. Please turn the shed lights off when not in use....especially the spotlights in the games room and the ones above the dining table. It's not just about the electricity - but lights left on all night attract a million bugs.
Is our most precious resource. We are on tank water and the shack only has a small tank. If you simply cannot do without your daily 20 minute shower I understand but there are plenty of places on Airbnb who have town water and no restrictions... it's just not sustainable here. If you are here for a longer stay there are several laundromats to choose from - Powder Blue Laundromat in Noosaville is very good...right near Woolies. Handy :-)
We are dog loving people. Let's have a conversation if you are wanting to bring one. Our chickens roam around freely and we love them. Please don't let your kids or dogs terrorise and chase them. Generally we'd prefer that they (the dogs...not the kids:-) sleep outside on the deck in their own bed. Some exceptions apply....little toilet trained, non shedding, dogs are fine inside, but PLEASE check them for fleas before arrival. Also... we know how much you love them but we must insist that they stay off the bed and lounge. Much appreciated! Thank you :-)
I've lived in Noosa all my life, but for the last few years we've been making our way further out to the hinterland. We are now in Eumundi...love it here just a couple of k's out of town, but close enough to go and grab a coffee. It's a different world here ... the open spaces, mountain views, amazing sunsets and misty mornings - but I certainly appreciate that we are still close to the fun and action of Noosa and the beach. We love our amazingly adventurous Airbnb visitors that regularly grace us with their presence. So many inspiring stories. Once bitten by the travel bug there's usually no going back. Can't wait to do some more of that...with Airbnb of course! But for the time being we have a full on schedule with kids in Uni and high school, a dragon fruit farm to tend to as well as other work... In fact we're busy as bees but happy as Larry....everything is wonderful :-)
