O espaço

Echoes of the Past....
An atmospheric and quirky residence, resonant with echoes of its past as a hay and cattle barn. Situated on a typical Tuscan raised outcrop, or "poggio", surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, 6 miles from San Gimignano and 25 from Florence and Siena.....
The characteristic charm of the apartment is its visible links to its history as a convent hay and cattle barn. The long manger and some of the original tie-up hooks have been preserved and incorporated into the main bedroom, while the sunbeams pouring through the tessellated brickwork of the living room remind us that this was where the hay was once kept fresh and aerated during storage.
This is not just a pretty hill-top retreat, it is an atmospheric and quirky residence, resonant with echoes of its past.
If you listen carefully, as you relax in the high-beamed living room, you may just catch the lingering murmurs of its ruminating former occupants echoing in the rafters…..

Guests have use of the Manger Bedroom with King-size bed and en-suite Manger Bathroom with shower stall, hair-dryer.
The spacious Hay Day Room comprises kitchen with four stove-top gas rings, new electric oven, micro-wave oven, and dining and living areas with a toddler's high-chair.
A laundry room with washing machine gives out onto a terrace that overlooks a herb garden from which you can pick sage, rosemary and thyme, and a lower open area for sitting or dining outside.
The property has its own parking space for up to four cars.
There is a large supermarket 3 miles from the property, as well as numerous artisan stores, wine producers, restaurants, pastry shops and coffee bars.
The extra "toddler" bed is actually an adult-length fold-away camp-bed (UK) / cot (US) for a listed CHILD to sleep with parents in the bedroom, or a young slender person in the Hay Day Room. There's also a fold-away cot (UK) / crib (US) with mattress for baby up to 3 years old (if you list them as CHILD), though we ask that you bring your infant or toddler's own special blanket.
If you require bed and linens for an infant/toddler, please list them as CHILD guest, and indicate to us in the request what kind of extra bed you will need. If your infant/toddler will NOT need an extra bed, you may list them as an INFANT guest.

Ficamos 2 dias na casa e adoramos a estadia!!

My husband and I loved everything about the place...! It has everything nearby ! We had some difficulty following the email directions, but if you have a good GPS everything is solved... Location is exactly as described !! We recommend this destination! Congratulations to the hosts!"

We are a family of four and stayed for one great week in Travi Risonati. Two of us slept in the large double-bed, one child on the couch, one on a matress in the living-room. It was very comfortable. Brian sent us a good description of the roads to take the small house on the day of our arrival. If there is any problem, one could also (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) the adress of the vinery nearby and program your satnav accordingly. Our hosts made everything very easy and comfortable for us. They are in the United States but you could contact them at any time. They were very helpful and gave us lots of good advice concerning our trips as tourists in Tuscany. I was astonished that in spite of the heat outside with up to 39 °C, the temperature in the house stayed moderate. The view from the hill where Travi Risonati is situated is wonderful and you could sit outside and enjoy your meal in the evening sitting amidst lovely vinyards. And the historic town Certaldo alto is a stunning sight as well and can be reached by a nice hiking-tour in an hour. We enjoyed our stay and would be glad to come back. This is a perfect place for tourists in tuscany with a car. Thanks to our hosts for everything.

Brian and Christine's apartment is a great place to experience the beauty of Tuscany.  It's down a short dirt road on an actual working Vineyard complete with lovely views of the surrounding valleys, tractors trundling through the grape vines, and children playing in the yard. It's very centrally located to drive to any Village or site you may want to see in Tuscany. There are also many great choices for restaurants within 15 minutes. Though they don't live in Italy anymore, Brian and Christine are reachable in the United States on a moments notice and available for whatever might arise. They are wonderful hosts!

Would not stay here again. We spent the first 1-2 hours figuring out how to get the water to work and get the wireless internet to work. The water would go out 1-2 times per day and we would have to manually reset. The Wireless Internet worked for only a few hours of our 3 night stay and we spent quite a bit of money on roaming charges. There are nice views, but all are from outside as the living area has brickwork that obscures the views and the bedroom's window is up at about 8 feet. We stayed three nights and were provided only two towels that looked to be about 30+ years old. When we asked the offsite host where extra towels were, we were told that there is a washing machine - big help, thanks. Stayed at 5 other Airbnb locations during our 2.5 week trip through Italy with great accommodations and fantastic, onsite hosts. This one was our only disappointment, thankfully.

Resposta de Brian:
Disingenuous, misrepresenting, uninformed re locale history (seems didn't read description(URL HIDDEN)We apologized ahead of time for TEMPORARY water-pump problem (NOW REPAIRED) that only required guest to pull out plug from wall & put back in again (15-second task). Issue arose just before her Christmas-week stay. We were upfront BEFORE guest’s arrival re difficulty of getting plumber during period. Sent her instructions & photos AHEAD OF TIME on how to easily resolve, in seconds. Representing as surprise, ongoing, general problem is disingenuous. Apologized at the time, but again, we apologize for inconvenient few seconds it took to reset pump(URL HIDDEN) Account indicates guest’s internet usage averaged 5 hrs/day (typical for our guests) across random times, but service blocks questionable sites/downloads. We don’t know what guest was unable to access(URL HIDDEN) Property is former animal & hay barn. Characteristic, compulsorily-retained historic brickwork, described clearly in listing, is on side of building where sun comes around, in no way diminishes daylight, creates tessellated valley view & sunlight pattern on terracotta floor. High bedroom window, for which safe foldaway 3-step ladder provided, is remnant of former historic structure – can’t be altered. We’re sorry charming, historic features not appreciated by guest. 2 large towels + 2 smaller towels in bathroom = 4. Previous couples renting listing haven’t complained re number of towels. If were to send cleaners in every day of guests’ stay to change towels, wld have to raise prices. Yes, unlike in many properties, there’s a washing machine - no extra charge to use it. Towels all bought within last 2 yrs, washed professionally. Spotless, not worn. Design perhaps not to all guests’ modern tastes. We’ve tried to match hues to bathroom décor. For bleached white towels, hotel more suitable. 29 message exchanges before this guest made booking, during which used 3 differently named accounts, went back & forth between our different listings - confusing how many/what listing requests we were dealing with; asked redundant & misdirected questions - indicating had neither read listings’ descriptions, nor understood difference between AirBnB verification procedures (not handled by hosts) & host-provided information. This is a modest, rustic operation, bound by local historic preservation ordinances & subject to geographical characteristics of surrounding rural environment - exactly what most of our guests looking for & charmed by - not full-service modern tourist resort with up-market décor & high-tech amenities. We’re sorry this guest’s requirements weren’t a good fit, & that they had no tolerance for minor, temporary inconvenience for which we apologized from outset, & gave them advanced notification & necessary information to resolve quickly & easily.
