This spacious secluded guest suite in the heart of California's Central Coast wine country is on a quiet three-acre gated property. Surrounded by ancient oaks, springtime wildflowers and songbirds, your Retreat has everything you'd possibly need: private entrance, full kitchen, double shower, laundry, fireplace, giant flat-screen TV, WiFi, private patio, covered carport, air conditioning, and a bottle of wine from a local winemaker. Minutes from vineyards, golf, restaurants and beaches.

O espaço
This is a very large open floor plan (1200 sq ft) Guest Suite with bathroom, kitchen, laundry, and patio. It's physically attached to the large main home of your superhost (Mike), but separated by a thick structural wall, giving it the "feel" of a separate structure. Private entrance with electronic touchscreen lock, plus lockable sliding glass doors onto private patio. The newly-carpeted Guest Suite is equipped with a comfortable queen-size bed, a large semi-circular couch, a convertible sofa-bed, and a dining table for four. The bathroom is equipped with a double-wide shower and built-in bench.

There's a wall-mounted giant flat-screen TV with a DirecTV receiver/DVR. Also broadband Internet with Wi-Fi. One wall has a large brick wood-burning fireplace with gas firestarter. Another wall features large glass sliding doors (with sheers and blackout drapes) that open onto a private patio. You can park your vehicle in a dedicated large covered carport adjacent to the Guest Suite.

The kitchen comes fully equipped with full-size refrigerator/freezer, full-size electric range with cooktop and oven, microwave and dishwasher, coffee maker, pots/pans and plate & utensil service for 4. Also laundry facilities with large-capacity washer and dryer.
The Guest Suite is stocked with condiments, coffee and tea.

You'll love it!

Acesso do hóspede
You are welcome to stroll about the three-acre gated property, and to park in the covered carport reserved for guest use.

Welcome! My name is Mike, I'm 75 years young, and I've lived in this wonderful, spacious, secluded country home for more than half my life (nearly 40 years). I bought this place in 1980 with my wife Jan, who passed away in December 2014 after 39 years of happy marriage. When Jan got sick (lung cancer), she made me promise I wouldn't live alone after she passed. So to honor that promise, I started dating again at age 70, which was quite an experience. (I should write a book!) In early 2017 I met a wonderful woman named Nona who lived in Los Angeles (about 200 miles from me). I courted her long-distance until she decided to move in with me. Nona had been an Airbnb Superhost, and when she discovered that my property included a large guest suite that was hardly ever being used, she asked me if I would consider letting her turn it into an Airbnb property. I was a bit apprehensive about having guests on my three-acre gated property (I won't lie to you) -- I'm a person who treasures seclusion -- but ultimately I agreed with her proposal. Nona and I did extensive redecoration of the guest suite and turned it into a fabulous place that quickly became extremely popular with an amazing occupancy rate. It garnered more than 100 five-star reviews, with many guests saying that it's the best Airbnb experience they've ever had. Nona and I worked side by side to make our guests' experiences be very special. Then in August 2019, Nona suddenly got ill (cancer!) and passed away. I decided to continue the Airbnb guest suite, in part as a tribute to Nona's memory. A year later, in August 2020, I was blessed once again when another magnificent woman came into my life. Janice is a talented school psychologist and child behavioral analyst, and coincidentally also a veteran Airbnb Superhost. Now the two of us co-host the Airbnb guest suite. I grew up in the New York City area, was trained as a mathematician in Ivy League schools in the Northeast (Dartmouth, Princeton and Columbia), then moved to Southern California in 1967 and never looked back. I have two younger sisters who both live in the Boston area whom I try to visit with at least annually. My parents both lived to about age 90 and I'm hoping they gave me their longevity genes. At age 76, I'll admit to being a "senior" (since it gets me nice discounts) but I certainly won't admit to being "elderly" (a term with no redeeming social value so far as I can tell). I work at home (as do all of my staff), so I'm almost always available to my Airbnb guests if they need anything. At the same time, I'm a private person who spends a lot of time working in my home-office at my computer, so my Airbnb guests might never see me unless they seek me out ... or happen to see me riding around my property on my Segway. I love traveling, especially in my own airplane. I've flown it to just about every state in the U.S. (including Alaska but excluding Hawaii). The last time I flew the plane to Alaska was 1990, and another Alaskan trip is definitely on my bucket list. Also on my bucket list is a trip to New Zealand -- I'll probably have to fly commercial for that one. I also love music of all kinds (except Italian opera, I just couldn't get into that). I listen mostly to baroque or classical music when I'm working or driving or flying, but I also really dig bluegrass, rock, Motown, and folk music. I used to play piano, clarinet and guitar, but now I'm hopelessly rusty. I hope this meandering tale gives you a better feeling for who I am. I love hosting Airbnb guests in my guest suite and have met some fascinating people in the process. I'd love to meet you, too. Until we meet...
