This is a wonderful, private art-filled home on two acres - perfect for a quiet getaway. Nestled on the Russian River, this property has been tastefully reimagined by the owners.
As you enter through the steel gate and wind your way down the drive, you'll find a secluded, welcoming two acre property directly on the Russian River with a rustic barn, fruit orchard and mature oaks. This remodeled retreat is filled with original, contemporary art and contemporary craft, a wood-burning fireplace, a complete cook's kitchen with Wolf range, staples to share, cool baths, wonderful linens, W/D, AC, two queen beds and either one king or two twins, DVD player and flat-screen T.V. to watch movies, deck in back/patio in front. Floors are distressed, wide-plank Mountain Ash from Australia. Fly fishing is a 1 minute walk to the river. Relax to the sound of the river, laze in a hammock, mountain bike to the lake (BYOB), go wine tasting, shopping, kayaking (BYOK), antiquing, or just read by the fire. Healdsburg is just 40 minutes away and Boonville/Philo (the new Dogpatch) only 30 minutes away where you'll find The Apple Farm, Libby's, Anderson Valley Brewing Co., Navarro Winery tasting room, Londer tasting room, Roederer Estate tasting room. There's a wonderful manageable hike at Montgomery Woods just a short drive away where you'll see incredible old redwoods, including one that is twenty feet in diameter. Want wonderful organic food downtown? Make a reservation at Patrona for California cuisine, Oco Time for great sushi, or stop at the Ukiah Brewing Company for a beer and burger. Visit Rivino, or Parducci (Paul Dolan wines are favorites) to taste local bio-dynamic wines and stroll the incredible gardens at Campovida. You can taste some delicious wines there, as well as their honey and olive oil. Hike in the amazing redwoods, get a massage or soak in hot springs at Vichy Springs or Orr Springs. I'm a museum director and cofounded the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco in 2004. Prior to that I owned a contemporary gallery for 26 years. My husband is a retired firefighter and served as a first responder on the Urban Search and Rescue team in Menlo Park (one of the first teams in for the Oklahoma City bombing...). Life is easier now and he spends his time in the studio, the wood shop or the garden. He's a successful artist and is thriving on the creative process, including the design and remodel of our Ukiah retreat.
We enjoy travel, great food and wine, collecting contemporary art and craft, good design and good friends. When we have the opportunity to go to our retreat, we never want to leave. We hope you'll feel the same.
