Rustic tranquility is this lovely home nestled amongst a mixture of oak/pine woodland with 80 foot tall trees surrounding. It has a tree house feel to it, especially upstairs. The original home was built in 1920s. This is one of several historic cabins in the area. Plenty of natural light illuminates the space with skylights. Rustic fireplace, kitchen wood burning stove (can be used for cooking) and 2 potbelly stoves add coziness and the perfect ambiance to staying in a mountain cabin.
This cabin has two stories. It's approximately 1,400 square feet. It has a nice master bedroom upstairs ("Tree House Room") with a sitting nook for gazing at the beautiful view with a cup of tea or glass of wine. There's a spiral staircase to the upstairs, definitely not for the clumsy soul. "The Purple Room" which is my favorite room to wake up in has a lot of French windows that were taking out of another old home and reused. It definitely get's colder in this room but there is a propane wall heater to take the edge off. It has a nice sky light for star gazing before you nod off to sleep. And the view of the tree tops in the morning is wonderful. There's a small kids room with bunk beds. They have comfy memory foam mattresses and it is stocked with some books and games. There is a nook in the "Dome Room" which is another amazing place to sleep and watch stars or wake up to a view of trees and wildlife activity. It also has a comfortable memory foam mattress. All beds have good quality mattresses and sheets/ pillows all to add a to a comfortable experience for you. I am always very comfortable sleeping on each bed. The cabin has a lot of reused French windows and the oval window upstairs is vintage so please be careful. I prefer that they do not get opened. The living room and dome room has old milled wood from the mountain. You can see the saw blade marks in the wood. All of the stain glass was made by a previous cabin owner. The claw foot tub and sink are also antique. So there are many things that make this cabin unique and very charming. Your contributions will not only help me pay bills but also restore this lovely home.

-If you want to stay a week or month just give me the dates. I am flexible with the calendar.
-The road is DIRT and low profile vehicles will scrape.
-We get SNOW between the months of NOVEMBER to MAY even....snow chains are required even with 4x4 vehicles. If there is over 8" of snow on the ground 4x4s and all-wheel drive vehicles get stuck and loose traction. No snow plow is available to rescue you. Tow companies will also not rescue you because they do not go off road or drive in bad conditions. The roads up the mountain get black ice. Snow chains come in handy there as well to help stop your vehicle. Please take my advice seriously to prevent accidents.
-The phone is for 911 only. You will need a calling card for long distance. No internet available so leave computers at home.
-No good cell phone service on the mountain. ATT&T and Verizon work the best but only in patches. You will have to research where your phone works as you drive up.
-There is no trash service so please pack it out.
- Quiet hours 10 p.m. Please do not disturb neighbors 24X7. Dogs on a leash off of the property. On the property do not let pets disturb wildlife (birds, chipmunks, tree squirrels etc.) Parking is for two vehicles only. Use turnaround and back up next to propane tank for parking. Park vehicles in front of one another facing out for potential fire evacuation. Drive slowly on the dirt road to prevent dust around neighbors. Supervise children when outside plenty of hazards for them to hurt themselves on (examples: steep slope, rocks, retaining rebar (kids shouldn’t go anywhere off paths, uneven steps, old fencing). No trespassing around the other private cabins please. If they report damage you will be sent the bill .
Leave my home in the same condition you found it.
Please take sheets off beds that were slept in and leave on the floor.
Put all dirty towels in a big pile in the #2 bath.
Wash all of your dirty dishes.
Please scoop ashes from stoves/fireplace and place into metal bucket provided.
Pack your trash out. Not trash service.
Pet lover. I enjoy the outdoors. Fit and healthy. I built my own home and have lived here almost 12 1/2 years. I have many hobbies. Fly fishing is one. Now I am taking on crochet and knitting. I like most recreational activities. I don't think I'll ever jump out of an airplane. I have cats, dogs, goats, and horses to keep me busy. Plus landscaping, home to clean, and I try to garden in my spare time. Recently purchased a rustic home in the mountain tops of Palomar Mountain.
