'Doris' is one of our 2 lovely, purpose built shepherds huts (see our other listing for 'Shirley'). It combines the romance of yesteryear with some modern touches (on board toilet, log burner, solar lighting) to make your stay a little more luxurious.
Set in a natural meadow on our small farm in the southern tip of the Peak District National Park, it's perfect for a romantic getaway, escaping from the stresses of daily life and getting closer to nature - but with some of the comforts of home.
Each hut is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, bed linen and towels. All you need to bring are your clothes, personal cosmetics and food and drink.
Each hut has a cool box for your provisions and there is a plentiful supply of cool packs in the mini freezer in the washroom.
A log burner keeps you snug and cosy when it's cold outside (not to mention the double glazed windows and sheeps wool insulation!), and the integral oven and calor hob and grill are great for cooking supper! Alternatively, each hut has its own private firepit for the real outdoor experience.
'Doris' and 'Shirley have virtually identical specifications. The only real difference is that 'Doris' boasts a double bed with a single bunk built over (a real favourite with children!) while 'Shirley' only has a double bed. The rental prices are the same unless there is a 3rd occupant in 'Doris' for which we add a £10 nightly supplement.
You'll find the purpose built washroom, for the dedicated use of our guests in the huts, just a few steps away in our specially converted barn. Inside you'll find a utility area for washing up and a separate walk in wet room with shower, hand basin and conventional toilet.
Lowes Farm is in peaceful, rural surroundings with great views in all directions. It's the perfect place for relaxing and a great base for exploring the Peak District and all its attractions. There's something for everyone here from the splendours of Chatsworth House to the thrills of Alton Towers.

Lowes Farm is in a beautiful setting and we're very happy for our guests to enjoy the views and take an interest in our animals. However, for the protection of our guests and our livestock, we do ask guests to check with us first about which fields are ok and which are off limits.

We know that many of our guests stay with us for the peace and relaxation and we want you to have a great stay with us. Although you'll see us round and about, looking after the horses and miniature sheep, we'll do our best to safeguard your privacy. Of course, we're always happy to chat and talk about the animals if that's what you would like, and we're on hand to sort out any issues, answer your questions or tell you about the local area and attractions.
If you are into walking or cycling, Lowes Farm is the perfect spot for you. The Manifold, Tissington and Monsal Trails are all within easy reach.
We have 2 shepherds huts ('Shirley' and 'Doris') with virtually identical specifications. The only real difference is that 'Doris' sleeps 3 while 'Shirley' sleeps 2.
Why not hire both huts for a family break? Please contact us about the generous discounts for hiring both huts (01/07/17 to 15/09/17 @ £130 per night, both huts. All other dates @ £120 per night, both huts - that's from as little as £24 per person per night!)
If you're planning a family break and not everyone likes the idea of glamping, why not take a look at the listing for our small cottage at Lowes Farm (Wayward Cottage). Maybe you like the idea of a shepherds hut but others in your party aren't sure? Contact us for hiring both (or even both huts and the cottage!) and we'll see if we can't make a good deal for you!
The prices shown for Doris and Shirley are identical for up to 2 occupants.
Where there is a 3rd occupant in Doris an additional nightly supplement will be charged
