I arrived around 10 p.m. and left at 8 a.m. There was ample parking on a dark street, and a man sitting outside of the front of the complex smoking. I checked the apartment maps to find my way to the 2nd floor apartment. Ira’s mother was at the home and was kind and welcoming. She gave me a soft bath towel and travel size shampoo and conditioner. It was very hot in the apartment due to a heat wave, and she showed me how to work the rectangular fan in the room; its grates were dusty so I kept the fan off and opened the window. The apartment complex was quiet. The ladder to get to the top bunk of the bed creeked and the bed unit moved a little while I climbed it. I’m 5’2” and my feet would touch the wood on the foot end of the bunk, it may be a standard twin size, but it seemed smaller to me. The sheets were soft quality and comfortable. It would have been nice to have a lamp or light switch on the top bunk. I was awoken a number of times in the night and felt crawling and small bites. There were ants – I saw about 15 total - on the bed, wall, desk and in the bathroom. There may have been more, I didn't give it a closer inspection. The next day, Ira said she found a few ants in the room and offered to refund $10.00. She said that her son sleeps in the room and never complained.
