O espaço
Once the longest consecutively operated salmon cannery on the West Coast, the Cassiar Cannery has been undergoing restoration and revitalization since 2006. Our Guest Houses are unique, comfortable and well equipped with full kitchens, top end mattresses with luxury linens, handcrafted cedar furniture and huge waterfront decks with BBQs from salvaged wood milled on site and a five-star Trip Advisor rating to give you confidence about a visit to the Cassiar Cannery. Sockeye House is bright, comfortable, has a washer/dryer and is a favourite of our guests!

Whether you are coming for leisure, an extended business trip or an event like one of our signature experiential programs or you would like to organize your own corporate or leisure retreat or have a destination wedding, or if you like adventure with incredible sport fishing and wildlife viewing, the Cassiar Cannery is a perfect unique base for your North Coast adventure. We work with many incredible operators, from fine dining chefs, fully insured charter boats for jet boat adventures or sport fishing to having relaxing spa treatments, with enough notice, you can customize your trip.

As hosts, we love to meet all our adventurous guests who like to get off the beaten track and experience something out of the ordinary. It's rustic and rural. If you like to pop out for a coffee, hit the shops, need your cell phone and unlimited internet, we are a scenic 30 minute drive from Prince Rupert. If you like fresh air, wilderness scenery, need to check your email occasionally and don't mind phoning home gratis in our 1980s phone booth, get in touch! We'd love to meet you! Justine and Mark

Acesso do hóspede
All Guest Houses are self contained with separate entrances. Guests have access to the Cassiar Cannery with exception of our huge century old wooden dock.

Outras observações
We have dogs on site - two huskies and a massive furry Japanese Bear Dog. We've tried to have pets but our huskies are the worst hosts. So sorry no pets.

We are on an active rail line so expect to hear some trains come by at all hours. They don't honk and you can take advantage of VIA Rail, the passenger train, stopping right here!

We do not have cell service at the Cassiar Cannery. We do have a free phone in our phone booth for our guests to call home. We have satellite internet. It has restrictions but you are able to connect and check emails.

This area was known as Cannery Row. In the mid 1800s, salmon canneries were springing up on BC's West Coast and Inverness Passage on the North Coast is right at the mouth of the Skeena River. The fishing industry went from boom to bust and now only a few canneries remain and only three accessible by car. The Cassiar Cannery and our neighbour, North Pacific Cannery Museum - a National Historic Site. This is a beautiful 3.5km walk up a water view, tree lined quiet road. Port Edward also has the best marina on the North Coast only a 10 minute drive up the road. It is protected, safe, secure and has a double boat launch.

The North Coast is blessed with some of the most remarkable scenery in the world. Towering mountains with jagged snow topped peaks, sparkling big rivers and rushing tributaries and all the might of the Pacific Ocean all meet here. The wildlife viewing is phenomenal and almost reliable with consistent grizzly and whale sightings on tours, fantastic sport fishing for five salmon species and halibut, eagles, birds, wolves and more. There is a great spirit in the North and it's a great place to road trip with jaw-dropping scenery and light traffic!

We are 30 scenic minutes from Prince Rupert, with no traffic lights and little traffic, which has some fabulous restaurants and is a good place for supplies. Prince Rupert, BC is a gateway to the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, Haida Gwaii, Alaska and VIA Rail to the Canadian Rocky Mountains - don't forget VIA Rail can pick you up right from here!
