My place is close (5 miles) to Lake George, NY. You’ll love my clean waterfront cottages with private campfire areas overlooking the Lake Vanare in the Adirondack Mountains. My place is good for couples and families (with kids). Eleven of my 14 cottages overlook the lake and all of my cottages are within a 1 minute walk to our sandy Hideaway Beach & free to use rowboats and canoes. Each cottage has a campfire area with a picnic table, charcoal grill and Adirondack chairs.

O espaço

Our 2 bedroom waterfront cottages (Bass, Birch, Bass & Bay) offer a queen size bed in one bedroom and a triple bunk bed in the second bedroom. A triple bunk sleep 2 on the full size lower bunk and 1 on the twin size top bunk. They also have a full kitchen & bathroom with a shower (no tub). It does not have a family room.

Acesso dos hóspedes

We stayed in Cove 1 and loved it! Quintessential adirondack cabin. We used it as base camp and went boating daily on Lake George. Pete, the owner, was great and found an easy parking spot for the boat & trailer. Saturday welcome dinner, free to all campers, was a nice surprise and much appreciated. We fished off our dock and had unlimited use of the canoes. We will definitely stay here again!

Loved it! My family and I had a great time. Peter was very attentive when we had any questions. Couldn't beat the location...secluded yet 10 minutes away from Lake George! Fishing on the lake was great and kids loved the beach area. Had something for everybody. We'll definitely return. Limited reception means limited electronics. Win win in my book. Highly recommend it with families with kids 10 and up!

Renter beware! Unfortunately, we booked this listing soon after it was posted on airbnb, and did not have the opportunity to read the review subsequently listed here. From the pictures and brief description initially provided, it appeared to be a private cottage with 2 separate bedrooms, a living room area, a covered deck with picnic table and private dock in the woods. We had NO idea that this is a communal compound with 12+ tiny cabins clustered together in a camp setting. We only found out that the listing was not what it appeared to be 24 hours before arrival, when arranging our arrival with the owner, as he started to balk about us bringing our dog to this "pet friendly" listing. He told us that the cabin we were staying in was directly on the beach and was not pet friendly. After some confusion on our part, we (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)d the host and discovered his website for his collection of cabins on this small lake. To be fair, the owner did say we could cancel the reservation -- but as we were arriving within a day during the August high season, we had no choice but to go forward with the stay. The "beach" cabin is not horrific -- I suppose -- if that is what you are expecting. However, it is 3 small rooms and a small bath with shower, with entry to the cabin through either of the bedrooms. It is directly on the communal beach -- so those in the water can look directly into the kitchen area of the cabin. As it was the only one of the owner's numerous cabins available for our 4 day stay, I assume it is one of the least desirable cabins on the property. I don't mean to say that this property cannot be a pleasant place to stay. While we were there we encountered a large family group who clearly come to the property year after year, and who love to visit "hideaway cottages." The owner also actually gets good feedback on other internet sites as well. HOWEVER his listing on airbnb is extremely misleading -- whether intentional or not -- and should absolutely be changed to reflect what this place actually is. For us, it was extremely disappointing and not minimally what what represented on airbnb.

This was a nice little get away cabin to relax with family. There was plenty to do: fishing off the dock outside our cabin, free use of canoes and reasonable rates on kayak rentals, small beach area for swimming, walking distance to horseback riding and short drive into Lake George. The Host, Peter, was very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in the Bay cabin. It was clean and tidy and equipped with fans (the master had a ceiling fan which was a nice surprise), most kitchen essentials and bed linens. The cabins were a little closer together than I had hoped but this never caused a problem and the nights were quite. Lake Vanare is a very peaceful, small lake and does not allow motor boats which for us was an added bonus. My 12 year old daughter and 16 year old son loved Hideaway and found plenty to keep them busy and entertained. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back. Some places of interest I would recommend: Bennett's Riding stable (across the street), Prospect Mt. trail (about a 3 mile round trip hike in Lake George) ending with a great overlook of Lake George, 163 Tap Room restaurant right on the main drag in Lake George, Paradox Brewery (about a 30 min. drive) great beer, nice staff and delicious soft pretzels.
