Nestled under the view of the San Gabriel Mountains; Cabana San Pascual provides the traveler with a restful place, in a neighborhood of tree-lined streets, away from the urban noise but still close enough to points-of-interest, shopping and dining. Your hosts, Karen and Mel, have created a welcoming environment of the type in which THEY would find comfort, away from home. We look forward to YOUR stay!

Some History

Cabana San Pascual gets its name from its heritage. It is located in what was the Rancho San Pascual; a 14,403-acre (58.29 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Los Angeles County granted by Governor Figueroa, in 1834, to Juan Mariné, a retired artillery lieutenant. In 1852, another Mexican Army lieutenant, Manuel Garfias, the namesake for Garfias Drive, was granted title to Rancho San Pascual by Governor Micheltorena. In the ensuing years the Rancho evolved into the cities of Pasadena, South Pasadena, and portions of San Marino, and the unincorporated communities of Altadena and San Pasqual. As for the “Cabana” part of the name;....well....., it's about six steps away from the pool.

The Cabana

This space used to be Karen’s art studio and office and we completely remodeled it. We took the building down to the studs and replaced everything from the roof to the floor. New flooring, walls, paint, tiles, etc. All new furniture. We added a beautiful modern bathroom and kitchenette along with the combination living room / bedroom space. It also has a nice size closet. It sleeps two on the queen size Tempur-Pedic bed and can also sleep another 2 on the very comfortable, American Leather, queen size sleeper sofa.
The kitchenette includes high gloss laminate cabinets, granite countertop, stainless sink, refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, Brita water pitcher, and all the necessary dishes, flatware, glasses, etc. There is a small table and chairs in the kitchen area for eating and for plugging in a laptop. The kitchenette does not include a range or oven.
In the bathroom, there is a hair dryer and pull out mirror for putting on make-up. In the closet, there is an iron and ironing board.
There is a 50” 4K Ultra-HD TV in the living room area that is cable-connected and has Chromecast to allow you to cast from your Android or iOS device.
The high-speed internet connection is through Charter Cable via WiFi.
The recessed lights in the bedroom / living room area are on a dimmer switch making it possible to adjust the lighting when in bed or on the sofa for TV watching.
Right outside the guest house is the swimming pool and a beautifully landscaped backyard. It is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the gorgeous view of the San Gabriel Mountains. You can see Mt. Wilson from the front doorstep.
There is a combination lock on the front door of the guest house. When you book the space, we will provide you with a code to unlock the door upon your arrival. There are motion sensor lights in the driveway and backyard to light your way if you arrive after dark. No need to come through the main house. It is a private entrance in the back.
It is a pretty, quiet, residential neighborhood, but it is within walking distance of a new Stater Bros. supermarket, a Starbucks, an ice cream shop, liquor store, bakeries, and several other small vendors. There are several good restaurants in the immediate area around Allen and Washington Blvd. There’s Altaeats for tapas, Mint Leaf for Indian cuisine, Connal’s for sandwiches and burgers, Mijares for Mexican, Egg Roll Express for Chinese, Domenico’s for Italian and Shawerma Masters for Armenian/Middle Eastern dishes. There’s also Carmela for "designer" ice cream and frozen yogurt.

Acesso do hóspede
Guests are welcome to use the pool and the backyard patio furniture. The pool is not heated, but during the hot summer months, the water is a comfortable temperature and very refreshing.

Outras observações
On Wednesday evenings, PLEASE park about 10 feet (3.3 meters) away from any of the driveways in the neighborhood, as the neighbors have to use this space to place their trash receptacles for pickup on Thursday morning.
